A: Per Oura Rings website: Oura Ring 5 is waterproof up to 100 meters (~330 feet), meaning that you can wear it while showering, swimming, or partaking in recreational diving (e.g. snorkeling), but we don’t recommend using your Oura Ring while scuba diving or keeping it submerged underwater for over 12 hours. Chlorine will not damage it. Oura Ring operating temperature ranges from -10–52°C / 14–125°F. You can safely wear your Oura Ring in the shower, hot tubs, saunas, ice baths, and cryotherapy tanks. However, extended exposure to extreme temperatures (below -20°C / -4°F or above 60°C / 140°F) may lead to battery damage.

A: The Oura app is the main app used with the ring. It has a subscription service of $5.99/month or $69.99/year (one month is included with ring purchase, the subscription service is also HSA eligible as of June 2026!) There are some other apps that can be linked to the Oura app, but those are all optional... i.e. Natural Cycles to monitor fertility. They are definitely not required, though -- I've never connected anything additional!
