Q: Can you cover the sliping hole or dose it spill

A: As long as you slide the cover completely over the drinking hole, it's pretty spill proof. It is a little difficult to close, though. There is not a satisfying click or anything, you just have to make sure it's closed tightly.

Q: What is the purpose of the small piece attached to the straw? I thought it is supposed to go inside the cup to prevent the straw from sliding out, but it’s always shown on the outside, wondering if I’m missing something haha.

Q: How do you remove the slider on the lid to clean?

A: The sliding portion of the Tumbler can be removed with consistent pressure applied by sliding the portion to reveal the spout. From there, with smooth and careful force, the part can be easily removed for cleaning. To replace, you can line the grooves up with the lid and lay flat and push in the opposite direction. I’ve bought three of these from Target and everytime they ship it to me without a straw and I have to return it. I don’t understand how nobody catches this and keeps shipping them out. Are they returns that shouldn’t be going back out to customers or are employees stealing these straight from the warehouse?

I have two of these and the gaskets on both tops got moldy and despite following all of Owala's suggestions and some more from Reddit Owala users, it would not come off. There are no replacement options to purchase even via a dupe on Amazon. Their customer service said mold was an inherent risk and would not send me other gaskets and didn't have an option to purchase others.

I have a couple of Owala Freesip bottles and love the design. Wanted something for hot drinks, which the Freesip is not recommended for, so I got this. I would have preferred something smaller as I usually drink a small cup of coffee (8-10oz max) but this is the only size I've found. I made 2 cups of coffee to lay while I was out and check the warmth. I poured them in around 8:30 this morning and now at about 1:00 my coffee is just lukewarm. Was hoping for better given the price. Regarding the lid, it slides open to sip from and I discovered the hard way that when you close it back there's a little resistance just before it is fully shut - I got a little splash around the mouthpiece the first time I tried it, so I found I had to push it again. Once it's fully shut it's fine.
