Owala 40oz FreeSip Sway Stainless Steel Water Bottle

I was really excited to try this water bottle—especially because of the lockable lid, carrying handle, and what I assumed would be solid durability. Unfortunately, within 30 minutes of purchasing it, it slipped from my hand (less than a two-foot drop) and the locking mechanism completely broke. The bottle also dented slightly, which makes it wobble when placed on a flat surface. I understand accidents happen and I take responsibility for the drop, but for a $45 bottle that’s marketed for on-the-go use, I expected it to withstand more than a minor fall. That level of fragility really calls the overall quality into question. What’s more frustrating is that I also purchased a kids' version at the same time, and now I have no confidence that it will hold up to normal daily use by a child. I reached out to the company directly—because I didn’t feel it was Target’s fault—and while I didn’t expect a full replacement, a small discount or some kind of gesture would have gone a long way. Instead, I was told it was entirely my fault, which just left a bad taste. I’ll be switching back to my Stanley cup, which is the same price point and has proven to be far more durable!

I’m not sure if my bottle is unique but when the lid is screwed on all the way, the bottle still either leaks or sweats from the area around where the lid and bottle meet. Every use. Then I started noticing black mold spots on the lid. I got rid of it all and it came back, 3 times now. I processed a warranty claim to Owala about this and they wrote me back saying it’s user error and I could consider buying a replacement lid or something. We own 9 Owalas on our house. Knowing they won’t stand behind their products we have decided to get a new brand for the school year.

Love this bottle. I fill it up around 4am and it stays cold until about 11 am. Best part it’s cup holder friendly.

Arrived not only missing the straw but did not have any of the stickers on it that would prove it “new”. It’s scratched and has what looks like lipstick on it. SO disappointed!!!

I have searched for the most perfect water bottle and here it is. large, fits in the cupholder, strong and durable, absolutely LOVE IT!!!

I received a used cup. It is dented in two spots on the bottom, and the plastic handle and cover for the spout are also scratched deeply.

I decided to upgrade my Owala, and there's no turning back. It's 40 oz with a comfortable handle, there's a lock so you can throw it in your bag and not worry about the cap accidentally popping open. Its beautiful colors, and my last surprise was it fit in my cup holder. I've been taking it on the road with me, and I love it.

I really like the top handle and the size. Despite the large size it still easily fits in my car cup holder. The locking lid is great for being able to throw it in my bag or bottom of the stopper and so far I haven’t had any leaks. I also really like the different colorways. I do however wish that it kept my water colder, longer. After a few hours the ice will be totally melted and water definitely doesn’t stay as cold as my other tumblers.

It breaks/dents FAR too easily. I've bought two of these. The first time I bumped it and the button broke in two. No big deal- still usable. Until the button stopped functioning. The second time I dropped it once from about 2 ft while unloading my toddler out of the car and it dented the bottom to the point where it couldn't be placed on a flat surface without rocking. I love the design, size, straw/mouthpiece- but it is NOT for the clumsy, average, or athletic person as it has to be utilized for very casual use. I loved the colors, and fact that it could fit in my cars cup holder- but the price was not worth the whole week of use I got out of it.

I have purchased 5 of these in last 2 weeks 1 for me of course ! I also gifted my sister 1 for her birthday and 3 for my adult children. We love the fact it a 40oz that fits in our cup holders . The handle is so convenient as well .

Love the option to drink through a straw or spout. I also love the big handle, makes easier to tote around. Only downside is fall is that after one drop, the lid broke and now I cannot find a replacement since it’s a newer style. : (

I love this water bottle! It is the best investment I have ever made. It is leakproof and locks. You can sip or drink.

Owala label scratching off and I’ve had it for less than a week. I haven’t dropped it so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Obsessed! Fits in cup holders, keeps water cold, easy to carry, what more could you ask for?

We are an Owala family! Even the grandparents have joined the club. I love the new sway style with the independent handle and tapered fit in cup holder. Of all the ones purchased (10+) we have never had leak issues unless the lock or handle cover wasn't used and button on spout was engaged. That is user error. Its the best bottle on the market in my opinion and I wouldn't waste money on others. Actually anyone want to buy a few used Stanleys?
