Someone else mentioned exactly the issue. The toy is attached to platform that has to be unscrewed by tiny screwdriver and it doesn’t have batteries. So, it’s like those big Christmas toys that you can’t just give to a child -you have to put it together!! Which is extremely dumb, since it’s one of those zipper unwrapping balls like lol, which the kids like to open themselves and then play with. BUT THEY CAN’T because it requires adult. So plan on standing around while they unwrap, find a tiny screwdriver, and make sure you have batteries-then your kid can play. Maybe. Haven’t even gotten to that part yet. Just have a sad kid until I get more batteries.

Lots of enjoyment and entertainment for a great price. Can be used on carpet in the provided ball, or can be used on hard flooring alone

Terrible packaging, requires a tiny screwdriver to remove screws just to get out of packaging. Then, it does not come with the required 3 AAA batteries. Didn’t see that mentioned anywhere obvious, so now that I’m home I have a disappointed kid and I’m hoping it will work once I spend more time and money on that…

This toy is really cute. We bought a purple one and it works well. It rolls around in the ball and on the floor. We are going to buy the other colors because my daughter loves it a lot.

My daughter just spent her own money on this and it stopped working after 5 minutes of playing with it. She is so disappointed. Do not waste your time and money on this toy.

Packaging is TERRIBLE!! Impossible to open even with the smallest screwdriver!! I'm about to throw it AWAY!

The smallest screwdriver is required to open the packaging. Maddening. Also, ball impossible to close because misshapen, so useless.

Cute and worked great while it did! But only worked for a few hours and thought the batteries had died but apparently it just stopped working all-together. It was actively used for probably 30 mins before it was done working

Terrible packaging, the ball is surrounded by thin crinkly plastic which you need scissors to remove and which then scratch the ball. The two halves of the ball are taped together and also very difficult to remove. You need a screwdriver to remove the internal packaging, and also to access the battery compartment (batteries NOT included). 30 minutes to get it going.

My 4 yo has been asking for a real hamster for the past year. We have cats, so that is a no-go for my own sanity. I saw these and thought they'd be a fun alternative. Santa brought one for my 7 yo and 4 yo. For the price, they are great. They zoom around the laminate flooring (which is encouraging them to actually pick up their toys a bit more) and they work in their little balls. The noises are a little obnoxious since they sing and make other noises. The cats also love to watch and "hunt" them. One of the hamsters did stop working (new batteries didn't help) and I was just told that the hamster was dropped by a certain 4 year old. No biggie since it was $8 or 9.

My 3 year old loved it! I’m confused on the bad reviews saying it needs batteries and you have to un screw to unpackage? There’s tons of toys that don’t come with batteries and for $8?!! Really? It takes 1 minute to unscrew it and another to add batteries. I need to go back to the store and buy one for my 1 year old son because he loved it too and my daughter isn’t letting “mousey” leave her sight! It’s so fun watching it run & talk.

At Thanksgiving, my 4 year old niece brought this toy. My 2 year old granddaughter could not get enough of it so I decided to purchase one for her for Christmas. I can't wait to see her excitement when she opens it.

The packaging is incredibly difficult to undo. Took forever and requires a screwdriver to remove the hamster once you get the ball open. After all of that the hamster doesn’t work at all.

Received wrong color. Product is fine. My kid really wanted the other color but I don’t have the time or patience to mail it back to get the right color. Oh well.

My daughters adore their hamster but I'm taking 2 stars off because a screwdriver is required to unpackage the item. I had to return to the store to buy a tiny screwdriver which was disappointing for my excited child but she was patient. I also looked over and over and over for information about the battery. The outside says nothing about what kind of battery needed or if they were included. I attempted to google repeatedly which kept giving me unclear results. For example another hamster would come up from this brand that needed button batteries which were included. Lucky for me I had the batteries at home. Just so the next parent looking at this know this hamster requires 2 AAA batteries and they are not included. Other than that great toy, my daughters love them so much and I would give 5 stars if it said up front that a screwdriver is needed to open and what batteries are needed and if they're included.
