Description
If you’ve introduced a new pet to your household or have an older pet who’s started testing boundaries, the PetSafe® Pawz Away® Extra Receiver Collar can help keep him or her out of trouble. It works with all PetSafe® indoor and outdoor Pawz Away® systems, which act as an hidden barrier for your pets. When your cat or dog enters the barrier area, they feel a safe, progressive static correction from their receiver collar which trains them to recognize an “off limits” area. Designed for indoor and outdoor use, the waterproof receiver collars are designed for dogs and cats over 5 pounds with neck sizes 6-28 inches. Got one. Broke. Received two replacements. they broke. Even with new batteries, they're terrible. I love the idea of the product, but the collar is truly a terribly-built collar.

Short lived device, very disspointing

This is a good device, but we've had to purchase 2 in the past year. Even with replacing the batteries, it still does not work. For the cost of this product, it should last much longer. Not affordable to have to buy a new one every 4-6 months. It is unfortunate since when it does work, it is effective.

They are probably good for smaller dogs larger dogs they have a shorter life.

This product should include a purchase option wherein the buyer can choose the large (dog) or small (cat) collar. As is, I had to buy this AND an additional cat strap. Silly and wasteful.

The only reason I rated the product 1 star is simple. I have three short hair dachshunds and the shock doesn't seem to bother them. They go right past the barrier zone. I can't say its a bad product, it just didn't work for me.

I love the collar and it works to keep my dog away from places I don't want her but, she broke the snap on this collar in a week. I was hoping to find a replacement collar but don't see any available. I don't want the whole collar just the nylon part with the buckle. Are there replacement collars for this or do I have to buy a whole new system?

I've used the barrier to deter my dog from areas he's prone to dig and countertops System works great but the collar wears out. Changed batteries and nothing it just completely dies... Good product but doesn't last long enough for the money

I have the indoor device...I have a Yorkie, it works great, but the plastic on the side of the collar broke, so the contacts just dangle from the collar. I used a zip tie to hold it together. I see others have had issues with the same thing.

I have both indoor and outdoor devices, and it works well if you don't ever pull on the collar. I have a 90 lbs dog and if you pull on the collar it breaks the plastic on the side so that the contacts just dangle from the collar.

Be sure to never attach a leash to the collar, as this can create extra stress on the collar strap loops and can cause skin irritation from the extra pressure from the contact points on your dog's neck. I own three of these collars for my three small dogs. Two of the collars broke apart on the electronic component and the third one stopped working shortly after I purchased it. What a huge disappointment considering the cost.

I was initially impressed with the Pawz Away Indoor Pet Barrier and have recommended it to my freinds. The only complaint I have addresses the weakest aspect of the collar assembly, specifically where the plastic portion of receiver which the collar has to go through to maintain it against the pet. I have owned four and am now preparing to order yet another receiver replacement; one would think the plastic area of the receiver could be re-enforced in some manner as to last for a reasonable amount of time. I have a German Shepherd and when he was at the stage to counter surf or investigate what may be atop the table, the barrier kept him with all four paws on the floor and off our countertops and kitchen table. Overall, the units work well, I have three that are in use at all times - but as the receivers get a little age (approximately 8 months) the plastic holder breaks and you must order a new collar and receiver unit. (How about encasing the reciever in a poly/plastic stretch type holder that affixes to the color and can be replaced at a minimal expense?).
