A: Hi Debbie - the on-off switch on these wall lamps is located at the socket, under the shade. If you are planning on using these next to a bed headboard, we'd suggest pairing them with a plug in dimmer cord. That way you can easily brighten or dim the lights for reading or TV watching. I purchased 2 of these Sconce lamps and was very pleased to see how well they are made. The shade is made of cloth with a strong and sturdy metal frame. I bought two of these for my office. I installed "smart" bulbs so I could control the lights with my voice, so I can't really speak to the function or convenience of the included switches. I can say that they are solidly built and were thoughtfully packed. I noted no damage to any of the parts and everything was easy to put together. It's also nice that they come with the cord cover. They look very nice and the photos in the listing do a good job representing what you actually get. I'm a little sad that they went on sale right after I bought mine, but I guess that's the breaks. I paid about $220 for the pair all told and I'm happy with them.
