Each Adapt™ Adjustable Wreath Hanger is made from premium grade all season metal which is designed to withstand the elements. The sturdy metal construction will support heavy wreaths up to 20 lbs. There’s no installation required; simply slide the hook over the door (up to 1.8 inches thick), adjust the length by pushing on Haute Decor’s proprietary slide mechanism and adjust the hanger to your liking. The hanger adjusts easily and extends from 16.5” to 25” making it appropriate for doors of nearly any size. Special pads on the back protect your door from scratches. Too Thick For Some Doors

The part that goes over the top of the door is too thick and doesn’t allow my door to close.

Sorry for your troubles. The thickness of the wreath hanger's top hook, i.e.. the part that goes above the door, is approximately 0.11" which includes the felt thickness when compressed. This is a little more than the thickness of 2 dimes. If you can tape 2 stacked dimes on top of your door and close it then the hanger should work. Doesn't sound like that's the case for your door so sincerest apologies.
