Chips are great; subscription not so much
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been trying to cancel or at least adjust my subscription without success. The chips are great if you like old-fashioned salty and greasy chips like I do. But I need to adjust my subscription. It feels like I’m getting the run-around, and it’s exhausting.

Remove the BHT and TBHQ toxins
These used to be the best chips ever, until they added BHT and TBHQ. There is growing concerns abt seed oils and preservatives. If UTZ would ever return to the simple 3 ingredients of potatoes, salt and lard these chips would sell again like hot potatoes!

Used to be a 5* GOAT level chip - now they taste horrible
I grew up eating these, loved them for 30+ years and recently within the past year or two, they've changed the recipe and it's quite possibly the worst kettle cooked chip I've ever tasted. These newly added preservatives and/or changes to process through which these are made have drastically altered the texture and taste. I would now not eat these if you paid me to. You lost a lifelong customer Utz and I don't understand how anyone who has enjoyed these for a long time is rating them anything above a 1* after these changes, they're awful.

What did you do, Utz?
These used to be the best potato chips. These aren’t it. There are no folds. They’re harder yet not as crispy. Worst of all, the taste is nothing - no salt, no potato; I might as well be munching on the bag it came in. Guess I’ll be finding a new go to for chips.

You can taste the potato not the grease it was fried in....
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So many chips are deep fried in oils that leave tasting like the oil they were fried in and not the potato . With this chip you can taste the potato. Glad to have found it and will be buying it from now on...

Recipe change
The taste is totally different now. The Handcooked were 100% better tasting. The kettle cooked aren't as good. You just don't get a lard flavor now. The kettle cooked taste like they are done in a toxic oil now.

Grandma's chips
I have been eating these for years. I haven't gotten any in awhile and recently bought a bag. They are terrible. Definitely not the Grandma Utz's I remember from carlise street. Big production really shows. They tasted like a generic brand you get at an amish discount store that has been out of date for three months. Shame on your brand or company for passing these off to the consumer under your grandma's name.

Taste Change
So idk about other consumers but clearly the recipe changed from hand cooked to kettle style and WE can TASTE the difference. The reason these chips were loved is for the old fashioned hand cooked flavor and taste. These are still good, but not it. I need the greasy, salty potato flavor. I almost don’t want to buy these again. You took away the point of them being old fashion.

Best chips ever
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been eating Utzs chips for many years when we lived in Md and Pa now we live in Florida we are finding it is hard to find them. When we do we buy them. Then the snow birds come and we haven’t been able to fine them. So we had to order them. It just as easy to order them.

Grandma utz
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love, love these chips! Grew up near Hanover, these were our families go to chips. They are nearly impossible to find in Florida, so I’ve decided to order directly from you. Enjoying every lard flavored crunch!!

Not as good as they used to be!
These chips used to be my favorite - light, salty and crunchy. Now, they are randomly salty, hard crunchy and not the same - What did you do UTZ to ruin these chips! They aren't as good as they used to be - too bad you changed the recipe and cutting corners somewhere. Bring the old way back! Grandma wouldn't be happy now!

They are not what they used to be
These were the ONLY chips I would eat. I purchased a bag recently and was disappointed. Tasted like any other chip. Not happy I haven’t repurchased. I did again today thinking maybe the batch was bad, not properly stored but NO. The chips have been changed. I will not purchase again.

What changed?
Notice in 2025 that something has changed with my favorite chip . Gone ate the days of sorting through the bag for the best wrinkled/ folded ones with the best crunch and tast. Now they tast stale and like a ( regular chip) what happened to my old stand by.
