Q: what is the width at the bottom of the basket also, what do you mean by 10.8" in depth??? it's confusing and you could do better. I want to insert this basket into a solid basket, so you need to provide better measurements.

This is a nice mesh trash can. However, it's smaller than I thought it was. If you're looking for something a little larger to go in your bathroom or bedroom, this can will not fit the bill unless you want something small, about 4 gallons.
