About this item

Description

About the Book

A timely and deeply moving debut picture book that explores the power our words hold.

Book Synopsis

Simple, direct, and emotive, Katy Jane Neal's Words and Your Heart's message is that words have extraordinary power-to harm and to heal, to create and to destroy, and to spread love.

This book is about your heart (the little bit inside of you that makes you, you!)

The words we listen to can affect how we feel.

Some words can do amazing things and make us happy.

And some words can really hurt us (we all know what sort of words those are).

Our words have power, and we can choose to use them to make the world a better place.

Review Quotes

An earnest plea to choose one's words with care and to use them for the greater good.--Publishers Weekly

About The Author

Kate Jane Neal trained at Edinburgh College of Art, studying Ceramics & Painting, and won the Wedgwood New Designer of the year award. She was awarded the Andrew Grant Scholarship to study at postgraduate level, and went on to exhibit in various galleries throughout the UK, including the Scottish Gallery who represented her at SOFA in Chicago. She was compelled to write and illustrate her debut children's book, Words and Your Heart, in response to observing verbal bullying within schools.

A library must have

This is a GREAT, encouraging book for little ones to express their feelings. I immediately read this to my two littles and the 3yr old’s take away, “Words are POWERFUL!” The contrast colors (black, white, and red) are reminiscent to the Olivia books. Nice size board book and perfect length for a quick read. Illustration is very engaging (for those that ask additional questions). So, yes, parents add this to your library.

Favorite Book

We absolutely love this book! The contrast colors were really appealing for our baby when she was younger. It was the only book that captured her attention. The message of the book is great and delivered in a unique/fun way that our daughter is sure to enjoy for years to come. We share this book with everyone.
