Description
McCormick Pure Ground Black Pepper is an essential spice, beloved around the world, with a place of honor by the stove and on the table. This pantry staple delivers a sharp aroma and kick of earthy heat – perfect for meats, soups and stews. Our ground black pepper always starts with premium, hand-harvested peppercorns. When ground, the deep dark brown to black, deep-set wrinkled peppercorns have an intense woody-piney flavor that is hot and biting to the taste. Add to almost any dish – blend into soups and stews, sprinkle on omelets, salad or vegetables or rub on meat to season it before cooking. Black pepper mellows with cooking which is why the pepper shaker on the table is also a must for perking up your dishes.

Guests are saying
The new pepper container design has received significant criticism from guests who find it difficult to use and prone to spilling. Many guests have reported that the lid does not seal properly, leading to excessive pepper being dispensed and ruining meals. While some appreciate the pepper's quality, the overwhelming sentiment is a desire for a return to the previous metal container design, which was more reliable and user-friendly.

I just bought a can of McCormick black pepper and within 2 days it was not coming out of the can. I check and found the pepper to be clumped. I went to the Internet to find out what to do the fix it. It was suggested to use paper towels to soak up the dampness. For 3 days I placed papers towels over the black pepper hat I had dumped into a bowl and green stains was on the paper towels and the pepper is still clumped. When I saw moisture in the bottom of the can, I purchased an electric grinder and no help. This is the 2nd complaint about the pepper can; the first one was the top that came off at the worst times. I can't keep throwing away your pepper and re-purchasing them. I will have to try another brand.

Container ruined my meal

I have had enough with this pepper container that now I have decided to leave a review. I thought maybe it was a defected container shaker until it happened to another. Everytime I buy this shaker something wrong happens. This time when I opened the smallest shaker side the huge open selection of the shaker opened and won't close. Can I take it back no!!!! So what I told myself is to be mindful when I use it. Unfortunately, I like normal people grabbed the pepper shaker like any other time. However, about 3 heaping tablespoons of pepper dumbed all over my salad. The only good thing out of that was that I was making something for my lunch. The downside was I had to throw it all away.

Large, value size pepper that is great to have on hand for cooking. However, it is ground very fine and I do not like this seasoning as much as other kinds.
Defective pepper container

Plastic Pepper container was defective. The lid seems warped and doesn't shut right. You think it's closed and then it pops open. The container fell over on the counter and half of the pepper fell out. Pepper is too expensive to waste so it was very disappointing. I have always expected more from the Mccormick brand. I miss the sturdy metal cans

Terrible design of the new container and disappointed that McCormick chose to use plastic when many people are dumping their plastic containers. More toxic plastic in the atmosphere during the manufacturing of this difficult to use product?

Container is terrible

The container for this pepper is awful. Trying to open either side opens the entire top. Sometimes even just trying to pour the pepper causes the entire top part to pop open and bunch of pepper gets poured into my dish and ruins everything. I used black pepper almost every day, so this is a daily frustration. Definitely would recommend buying a different pepper.

The pepper is fine. The lid is a terrible design!!! I would ask, why you would change something that wasn’t broken to begin with; but, we all know why. Quality is a thing of the past. Only quantity ( money ) matters 😒.
Worst packaging ever!!

6 ounce container is a fail. Top does not seal. I have ruined a big pot of fresh green beans with a pound of bacon and onions. Should have learned my lesson when about 1/2 the container went in the bean pot. Tonight I was scrambling a couple of eggs for supper and it happened again. Will have to go to plan b for supper tonight. The container of pepper will go in the trash and as long as your pepper has the white plastic top that doesn't seal I will purchase some other brand

Hi Necie. Both our 1.5oz and 6oz containers will be changing from plastic to metal containers. We appreciate your feedback and patience as we transition to this change. We have shared your comments with our Marketing Team for their review. ~JM

My family has ben life long customers of this brand but in the last year this flimsy pepper container has ruined my cooking plans too many times! I have resorted to taping down the top . I love the pepper but I'll change brands if it's the only way to avoid this container…..

I'd Like to Rate This as Zero Stars because I can't get the lid off; because there are no instructions on the tin or on McCormick's website AND because there's no SEARCH button, no way to ask a question. In order to post this, I'll have to give mt email address so McCormick can sell it to millions of businesses all over the world. More junk mail. I'll return the pepper to the store and buy a different brand.
