The Fight of His Life
If you recently finished the latest series of the Lincoln Lawyer, you might think the book is the same, and that is definitely not the case. Mickey Haller is a famous lawyer who has defended a wide range of clients. One of his previous clients, Sam Scales, was murdered and left in the trunk of Muckey's Lincoln. He owed Mickey over $75,000 in legal fees, and so Ms.Berg, head of major crimes, is framing Mickey for killing him. This is definitely not the case, and part of the mystery is who did it and framed him by planting the evidence in his Lincoln. Since Mickey has been on trial, they have lost several clients, and Lorna Taylor, his case manager, who just passed the bar, is also his second ex-wife and is now married to Cisco, his investigator. They all plan to conduct research to prove his innocence. His first ex-wife, Maggie McPhearon, who works in the district attorney's office as a prosecutor, has decided to help Mickey since he wants to represent himself. Jennifer, his law partner, will also help. The problem is that a very vindictive judge ordered him to post bail of five million. Knowing he has no money like that, his half-brother, Harry Bosch, and a former client tell him it won’t be a problem. Lucky for him, Bishop is locked up in the cell next to him and offered to protect him for four hundred dollars a week. Which is a blessing, as he knows he is not safe in the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Once Mickey is let out, they have to try to figure out who would do this to him. With the FBI and other agencies on his trail, you wonder if Mickey will survive to have his day in court. This book is fast-paced and even better than the series; it is a must-read for Michael Connelly fans.
