The most important feature of this piece is the vertical rails, but the lap joints they designed tend to shift out of alignment as you bolt them together. Do yourself a favor and coat the inner surfaces of these joints with a bit of wood glue and place the completed rails on a flat surface to dry for 24 hours before continuing this build. Dont be surprised at how fiddly it is to get the outer surfaces of the rails perfectly flush and in the same plane, just be patient, and wipe away any excess glue squeezing out with a damp paper towel before it dries. Next, for safety's sake and particularly with kiddos in your home, adding two small right angle brackets bolted to your wall and the underside of the desk will afford an extra bit of stability & topple-proofing. It's hard to believe the designer/manufacturer omitted this.
