Great Consistency
The consistency is very well balanced, not watery, not too thick. The sodium, sweetness, tartness and oil are also well balanced. The only detraction is a slight bitterness, which I attribute to (most likely) the oregano. As with all brands, flavors can vary from batch to batch. I would love to try a jar with a different use-by-date.

Delicious Pasta Sauce

Disappointing first experience
I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. First impression was not great for such an expensive sauce. Jar was very hard to open and when it finally opened, crusty black stuff went all over my counter and in the sauce. I then could see that this crusty stuff was in the lid. I don't know if the jar was damaged or not sealed correctly, but I wasn't going to chance eating it.

Far from boring marinara

OK but not premium
I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. Having lived in Italy briefly and visited it numerous times, I am a snob about tomatoes and pasta sauce. I had high hopes for this, and I was disappointed. It's good but lacks depth, maybe because it's a marinara and not another kind of pasta sauce. The tomato acidity needs to be balanced with a bit of pecorino or parmesan, or else the herbs and garlic need to be stronger. The sauce is also fairly oily, which is common for more premium pasta sauces, but uncommon for marinara in general in the US. Given the premium price tag, I would probably not buy this variety again as there are better options.

Sumple ingredients and great taste

I really like the fact that it is made with only a few high quality ingredients and not a lot of extra preservatives. I also like that it does not have sugar so you are really getting the true tomato based flavor.

Delicious and tastes homemade
