I was super excited to try this coffee maker. I’ve only had pour over coffee once in my life about a decade ago. I used this to make my coffee this morning after a pot of drip, and WOW. I’m not kidding, I made some mistakes as a newbie and somehow it still tasted much smoother than my drip coffee. Zero bitterness. Understand that making pour over coffee has a bit of a learning curve. You can find good tutorials online. This product is high quality - the glass is strong and meant to withstand high heat. The necklace on the coffee maker is very stylish and makes what could be just “another appliance” quite a fancy decoration in your kitchen. I wish it was very clear that filters are SOLD SEPARATE and that it really matters what kind of coffee filters you use. My first attempt, I used a regular coffee filter (DONT DO THIS) and it broke halfway through brewing because of the weight of the water. My partner loves their morning coffee and we needed a replacement carafe. This one is so lovely, I honestly like having it out on the counter all the time. I wish it came with a filter but luckily we did have some leftover to use. It makes a delicious cup of coffee. It does feel somewhat delicate since it’s glass but we haven’t had any issues. This is such a great coffee product. I have been using an 8 cup Chemex for over five years and love it. It’s really nice though to get a 10 cup for company. I Included a picture of the 8 cup and 10 cup side-by-side with the 10 cup on the right. This truly does make a perfect cup of coffee every time. I always use a scale and never boil the water too hot. I ditched my regular coffee maker a couple years ago in favor of my French press, which is my favorite way to make coffee. That said, when we have visitors, making individual cups of coffee in the press is quite a pain — so when I came across this 10-cup Chemex that can also be kept warm on the stove, I was definitely intrigued! To clarify, even though this is called “10-cups”, it is actually ten 5oz cups. I do like the look of this design; however, I do find it to be a bit of a pain to use. With the wooden collar, it is just a little on the big side to get a comfortable grip on, which makes it feel a little insecure when pouring. The neck itself, though, is too narrow to fit your hand through, so it has to be cleaned with a bottle brush. Also, I’m not a fan of having to remove the tie and collar every time it needs to be washed. While I won’t be using this for everyday use, it will definitely come in handy when we have guests! This is very high quality glassware. I am not worried about the glass breaking easily. This does not come with filters. You can purchasr filters from the same brand. We used conical filters that we had and they worked perfectly. This was the perfect setup to make some cold brew coffee to drink as is or mix with creamers for a nice iced coffee. We previously had the Chemex in the 6 cup size and loved it. My husband went through a whole phase where he was looking up and experimenting every day to make the perfect cup of coffee. We got a pourover kettle, filters, grinder and all the beans… after months I can now say my husband is a pro. But he recently dropped our old Chemex on accident so we decided to get a bigger size as a replacement. Same great quality. Definitely worth it for the pourover connoisseur. This is my first pour-over set but I am a huge coffee enthusiest and a bit of a snob when it comes to coffee makers and accessories. This is a great addition to my standard machine/french press set up. While I wouldn’t use it everyday, it’s a beautiful option for weekends or for entertainment as it’s extremely stylish and would be a great brunch-hosting accessory. This coffee system will take your coffee skills and flavor of coffee to the next level. I have an electric kettle so it makes it very simple and quick to brew coffee at home. This is a pour over system so you do need a coffee filter to hold the grounds. Simply pour your hot water over the grounds and voila, instant coffee! This brings out such a fresh flavor I love it.
