Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

The Best 1000 Hours Outside Pants

These are nearly identical to the Stretch Quick Dry Jogger Pants, except that these have cargo pockets, and the inseam is a little shorter. My 12-year old is 5’5”, 113 lbs. I ordered the XXL (16/18) in black, but they were still too short. Will have to return unfortunately.

Freat outdoor pants!

These are our go to pants for forest school! I stick up when they are on sale. They wash really well and are super breathable. We live in upstate New York so paired with tall socks they help prevent ticks! I did like the design better last year with the zippers vs. the pockets but that’s more of an aesthetic issue. I but these for both my son and daughter!

Please bring back the 2023 style and silouette

As another customer stated, please bring back the 2023 style which fit and look so much better. No tapered ankle, pockets, colorways and fit were so much better.
