  • A: I’ve been collecting Botanic Garden since 1996, so I’m rather familiar with Portmeirion. You need to check the backstamp to be completely sure of where the piece was made as there are many items now made in China.

    Dissappointed with size

    I am truly dissappointed with the size of the oatmeal bowl and the side plate. They are really not useful for everyday use. Wish I had chosen better. The pattern is lovely though and we'll see how they hold up. I've been looking at Portmieron for several years and now that I've purchased, I'm dissappointed.

    Very poor quality standards otherwise beautiful

    I love this design and have wanted it for decades. Ordered place settings for 12 people. All but the cups and maybe 5 of the other remaining 48 pieces had debris baked into them or unfinished blobs that stuck out sharp edged or large bumps on the finish. If they went through a check process the intended quality would be fabulous; however, they weren’t checked or their standard has gone down. I literally looked to make sure i hadn’t accidentally ordered 2nd quality merchandise. 43 pieces out of 60 are damaged and i would not have sold them. Just received and so far have kept them because I washed them immediately as i unwrapped them one by one. Love them but very disappointed.

    Love this set

    Love this set. I ordered it to replace a very old set that has outlived itself. The new plates are thicker and are absolutely beautiful. I actually like the new set better than my +30 yr old plates. I love the mugs. I didn’t have these and they are now my favorite mugs in my cabinet! They are perfect in size, shape and handle. Worth every penny.
