Rice weevil in grits
Brand new opened and saw insects floating while I was adding water to grits. Researched and discovered they were rice weevils. They are harmless but this was a first discovering these, I buy these constantly. Usually I love these grits so the review is finding these creatures.

Unusable product
Unfortunately the item is as delivered unsealed , to the point spilled out onto my porch. It’s not usable. I like the product but poor packaging in the box opened the container during shipping. The item is rated one star due to it being unusable.

Why don’t our local store sell yellow grits?
I grew up eating grits. These quick grits don’t taste particularly different from than the long-cooking grits my grandmothers used to make. They cook up in 5 minutes. They are creamy and go very well with butter & salt or, my family’s favorite, cheese grits. But why can’t we find yellow grits anywhere? Yes, hominy is usually white, but we didn’t eat white grits when I was young.

Waayyy Too salty
Inedible, a waste of money. I like salt on french fries, tomato salad, rare steak, but in grits? Nah! With 14% of the RDA in one teeny tiny packet your chemists have gone off the rails. I think that if you lost the salt in your formulation you would get more repeat buyers but as it is I'll not buy it again as what I have I will not use.

S-A-L-T-Y
I tried the instant grits (which for some reason are not shown here) I can only guess they're discontinued? If so good riddance! They were so salty, I liken eating them to licking my arm after mowing the lawn on a hot summer day! I don't get this corporate compulsion to add salt, WE can add it but cannot take it away from products already made with it. I wonder Who figured out that 14% of the RDA (per the nutritional info on the box) is R-E-A-L-L-Y necessary in one teeny tiny packet? I do not think so.

Full of hulls!
The last 2 5lb bags I bought were full of hulls. Probably had husks as well. Didn’t cook well at all, but I still ate them. I’ve always bought Quaker, because yall had the best!

Yuk
What have yall done to your 5 minute quick grits? No matter how long they cook, they lost there creamy texture. I grew up eating these grits. I even fed them to my children. Go back to the original recipe. Very disappointed 😞

Grits everywhere
The Grits box busted open during shipment. I will have to throw remainder away. I should have taken a picture when I first opened the box. It's even on my front porch and steps. I'm surprised fedex delivered it.

Better than the flavored varieties
These are much better than the flavored varieties. I prefer adding my own cheese or REAL butter to them.

I'm hooked on these
I buy these in bulk and have been take these to work. They cook up perfect with hot water from the electric kettle and make a great base for a quick dinner or lunch at home - just add steamed veggies and herbs! After adding hot water, a splash of almond milk and 30 seconds in the microwave make the grits extra creamy.

Bad packing
Whilst we are happy with the actual product, shipping is horrendous. We ordered 9 containers the first time and 6 came damaged. We reordered and 2 came damaged. Need to be better padding in the box and fragile written on the outside of shipping box

Instant Grit Fail
I just made some grits. Instant Quaker grits. I followed the directions and emptied the package into a 2 cup measuring cup, as fine 0.5 cups water and cooked for 1 minute in the microwave. They were not "smooth" so I cooked for another 30 seconds and stirred - still not cooked. I added more water and another 1 min micro... Still not creamy /smooth.

Very sad
As a long time ,daily user of this products (decades) I am so disappointed. Lately my 5 minute grits have required double that cook time and producing off colored, clumpy, vinegar and oil type consistency. My cooking process including stove top and water has not changed so I'm thinking it is a recipe change. If so, please revert back to your old recipe or I will no longer be purchasing this product. So sad.

Does not cook that fast
I don't know how others have been preparing these, but I find that they do NOT cook in the microwave. They stay hard unless you cook them on the stovetop for 15-20 minutes, and even then they never get a creamy texture. I am honestly not sure if it is even safe to eat them after merely microwaving, since the corn is raw (there is a warning about this on the package saying to thoroughly cook them).

Too salty but still good
I absolutely love grits regardless of cooking method. One question though. Would you consider a no-salt or reduced-salt version of the instant? Salt is a major issue for Americans with hypertension or kidney disease. And I do love the portion control with the instant packages.

Salty
I love grits. I usually get the quaker 5minute grits. I tried these out, the original flavor and they would be great but they are so salty. Its weird. I like sugar in my grits so it was a bizarre taste. If you like savory grits than they are perfect.
