Please note that the pedals will continue to spin, unless weight is applied. Once the child rests their feet on the pedals, they will stop spinning to act as a footrest. Once the center hub is pushed in, the front wheel will engage for child pedaling.     Definitely seems like a well built trike when it comes to the long living parts. The basket is all plastic and probably will break soon. Don't forget to add a bit of lube as you assemble the bike as there's no factory lube in the components that you're assembling. We tested the bell because we were suspicious when our kid liked licking it, and discovered that the center nut has lead in it - the swab turned red. We removed the bell.

    The handlebars came loose while my 3 year old was pedaling, completely fell apart on him, which also happened when we were in the crosswalk! The tricycle had been put together following the directions and had been tightened appropriately. It was such a disappointment for my little one, and scary for me because we were crossing the street and he could have been seriously injured!

    Only a few months after using this bike the handle no longer turns. My son was riding it and it completely fell to pieces. He fell on his face. This is not safe.

    The trike looks nice but disappoints in quality. The squeaky headset and cheap plastic bushings are issus. Loose steering and falling pedals due to missing metal pin. Daughter used for two weeks. Disappointing for price.

    Like some of the other reviews, the steering handle broke on ours as well after a few months of gentle use, making it unusable for our son who can’t reach the peddles yet.
