Works create on copper tubes

We use this to help roll 2in copper tubes along a flat surface. If the tube begins spinning out of control, the wrench will release which is good for safety. We replaced the pin with a bolt and lock nut.
Good concept, poor execution

While the product is well made, it is not well designed. It simply will not grab pipe with any reliability. It’s too bad, I really thought this was going to be a time saver, but it simply doesn’t work on anything harder than plastic.
Will not grip the pipe

I have had this wrench for over twenty years and I just can’t figure out why I haven’t tossed in with the scrap Iron. Material quality is good, like Rigid’s reputation. But It just doesn’t work as a wrench. I have to continually fiddle with the positioning of the jaws to get them grab onto the pipe. Sometimes I can’t get it to grab at all on a galvanized pipe. It seems to work slightly better on black iron, but it’s still the last tool I pick up. The engineer that designed this did not deserve to get a bonus, and the folks that did the pre-market testing thought it was for plastic pipe.

Nice have something quick and easy on simple gas pipe jobs. Not having to fool with adjusting a wrench is great

After over 2 years of owning this wrench I still have it, at it's in one piece. It does what it is suppose to, but my overall liking of the rapid grip wrench is fair at best. It makes a better hammer than anything. If you are doing black iron gas lines and are installing fittings this is the tool for you, but if you are expecting to wrench on nipples with nothing to grab on to, just get a standard wrench. Ridgid missed the mark on the design. The shape of the bottom jaw is wrong and the spring in it could be stronger. I think a stronger spring would take care of most of the issues. It has held up. I have wrenched and beaten on stuff that shouldn't be wrenched on with this little wrench. Its just a matter of getting the thing to bite. When I buy a new wrench I would just go with a standard aluminum pipe wrench. There is minimum time saving with this wrench when you can't get it to bite easily. Ridgid just missed the mark on this particular concept and product.
