A: The Sauder 9 Cube Storage Bookcase is in our Blade Walnut finish. We describe our Blade Walnut finish as a distressed dark brown, almost black. The backing is not finished due to this being designed to be against a wall.

We have had an old bookcase, that looks more like a bookcase for a dorm room, not a family home. I have 2 more "cubbie" areas to fill, but am happy with the upgraded look. :)
