Description
Think fast, be original and stay sharp! In the Scattergories game, roll the 20-sided letter die, flip the sand timer, and think of unique answers for each category on the list. Players race against the timer as they write down answers to categories -- such as things in your car, reality TV shows, famous animals, and things you shouldn’t touch -- each beginning with the letter “S,” for example. In this fun family board game for 2 players or more, score points for jotting down things no one else did. The more out-of-the-box the answers, the less likely someone will have it, and the more points you rack up. Online tools also enhance gameplay, giving players the option to use a web-based timer and letter die. This new version is not good at all. I used a word that rhymes with mucks, but apparently that is not allowed. The new lists are cool, but that’s it. The card holders are either too small or the lists are too big see photo. Hasbro really failed on this one. Bring back the old version, but with new lists. Also, the dice is a bit smaller and the hourglass, which is not audible is not as good as the old timer. The app kept giving me an error maybe I’m not allowed to use proper punctuation.

Fun game, however this version is not as good as the old one. This one does not include a mechanical timer but instead a little hourglass sand timer. It’s not possible for everyone to concentrate on their cards and answers and still watch the “inaudible” sand timer. You will have to purchase a timer separately, use your phone timer, or look for the old version of this game - like 30th anniversary edition with mechanical time included.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids loved playing scattergories. You get a topic from a few given cards. You then get an answer sheet. There's a die that you roll to see what your answer must start with. As a person goes through the clues, they write the given answers down on a paper. During this whole process there is a timer. It's not very long! It's funny to watch what the other team comes up with for answers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love having game night with the family, but, as long as it's been around, I have never played Scattergories. Shame on me, it's so much fun! I knew the game, but didn't know how to play. The game is quick to learn and easy to play. We tried this for our last game night, and we all had a blast! The recommended ages for this game is 13 +, but my 7 year old was able to easily play. Especially if we played with teams, instead of individually. If you love family games, I highly recommend this classic...you won't regret it.

We played family teams where one team was our 5 year old toddler paired with our 88 year old grandma and it was hilarious! The timer made it a little hectic at first until we got in the groove and then the words came pouring in. There are 16 sets of questions that are from appropriate subjects for the whole family. Set up is easy and each of the cardboard holders are great for writing and hiding your answers and storage is nice and flat. If you're looking for a fun and wacky family game that is appropriate for any age, get this game!! Can't wait to get additional question boxes.

It’s a fantastic excuse or opportunity for friends and family to come together. I love how everyone stays engaged while having fun. Best game for family night, definitely recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My sister was down for a visit in August just as this game came in. So, we ended up having my friend come up and we did game night. I ended up getting everyone's opinion and they all agree that this is a great game. Once everyone understood the game it went smooth. This is now our go to game.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids and I absolutely love this game. It's the only one we can all play and no one argues or bickers. For a mom that's a win. I played this game a lot as a teen with my family on game night and then later in life as an adult with my adult friends. So I was happy when my own family took to it so easily. It really is a fun game that everyone can enjoy together. You don't need to be a genius. The competition is not completely fierce like in other board games. It really is more FUN for us than other popular games most of us know & play. I highly recommend it. It's great practice for kids and their vocabulary, spelling, etc.

The categories are fun, yet hard. Coming up with stuff that starts with just one letter is harder then you think! Play is simple, roll the dice, and name as many things as you can that start with the letter rolled that match the category picked, all while being timed. I definitely recommend.
