Q: Does this bike come assembled

submitted by Michael - 7 years ago
  • A: To provide a more succinct answer: No, but it's doable. It comes in a (well-padded) box and you have to assemble the parts. The MAJORITY of the pieces, especially complicated ones, are already assembled in "groups"; you just need to actually put them together. Out of a difficulty of 5, I'd give it a 2; as long as you know basic techniques and follow the instructions, it's not hard (but it took me, an experienced bike mechanic, about 2 hours working slowly while watching a movie).

submitted byFrood - 7 years ago
  • A: Hi Michael - if you select home delivery, you'll need to attach the handlebars, rear frame, secondary chain, rear wheels, fenders, front wheel, pedals, seat, and basket. Final adjustments will also have to be made. Your owner's manual comes with step by step directions to help you put it together.

Q: How do you measure for this bike? I'm 5'4 (inside inseam is about 25.5 inches). Online it says I should be on a 15-17 in bike. How do I figure out the measurements for a 3 wheeler to buy online?

submitted by Wants2rideatrike - 7 years ago
  • A: These are all a bit on the "larger" size if you ask me, but the frame geometry is set up for an upright ride - that means that the sizing of the bike is much less critical than on a "fitted" road/mtb bike. There are no frame sizes, but owning both the 24" and 26" I'd say the 24" counts as a "S-M-Med/Large" and the 26" counts as a "Large-ExtraLarge". But again ... since this is a comfort cruiser, this fits a VERY broad range. For a 5'4", get the 24".

submitted byFrood - 7 years ago
  • A: Hi Wants2rideatrike - the rider height range for our 24" bikes is 56 - 66 inches tall. Thanks for your question and interest in Schwinn.

Q: I want to buy the Schwinn Meridian 24" Cruiser Tricycle, which has only 1 speed. I am 5' and have two artificial knees so I need to know at 1 speed, is it easy enough to peddle?

submitted by mobillo46 - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi mobillo46! We would recommend a 7-speed as it offers more options for pedal resistance. Our 1-speed models are typically set at the medium resistance level.

I ordered this bike online for my son who has Autism. I felt the bike would assist with his mobility while providing flexibility and comfort. We live in a small town and could not find anyone to assembly the bike. Once I located a person to assembly the bike, we discovered there was an issue with the seat. The seat would not stay up. We tried numerous attempts to resolve this issue but it was never corrected. , I have been unable to use the bike for its intended purpose.

POOR Quality

This product was delivered June 22nd, it was assembled July 4th and on first use July 5th I noticed there was noise as I pedaled. No visible issues seen. The same clicking noise continued all the way to the fifth day of use and this time the chain snapped, broke off. It looks like a poor quality material. I heard Schwinn is a USA product but to my disappointment, it's not.

It took some figuring out to assemble. But the bike is very sturdy and fun to ride once you get the hang of it. It doesn't turn the same as a regular bike since you can't lean into the turns. You really need to use your handle bar. The bolts for attaching the basket and fenders are already there attached to the wheels and the back of the bike. Not sure what the other review writer meant. My fenders also came dented. Contact Schwinn online and they'll ship you replacement. Don't contact Target as they'll only offer to exchange the whole bike. Finally, the seat is a bit stiff so I'll be looking for a gel cover for it.

This is a clear case of "you get what you pay for". The fenders are really flimsy. In fact, one came pre-dented. They also attach poorly to the bike leaving many chances for them to rub against the tires - and they do. All screws for attaching fenders to wheels were missing from the box as were all the bolts for attaching the basket to the frame. All the attaching screws and bolts were metric so there was a bit of scrambling before we were able to find some to finish assembly. It looks pretty but it's not as sturdy a product as I had hoped. Lesson learned.
