Q: What type of Shimano gear set comes with the bike?

submitted by Curious - 4 years ago
  • A: The shifters are the ST-EF41L and ST-EF417R while the rear derailleur is a TY300D and the front derailleur is a LX-B18. Thank you.

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 4 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: It might have been true 1 year ago. Unfortunately, the current version doesn't have any visible Shimano, both derailleurs and shifters are some lower end MicroShift. The item description is not accurate.

Q: Does the bike come together when I order it online and it sent to the store for pickup?

submitted by Scott - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi there Scott - As long as you can click on the red "Pick It Up" button on the right hand side of the bike page on target.com, it'll be assembled at the store and ready for pickup. Bikes purchased on target.com using 'Home Delivery' or 'Ship-to-Store delivery' won't be assembled. Thank you.

  • A: I ordered it for pick up from Target as they had it in stock for same day pickup. I even waited 3 days before I went to get it and when I arrived, they gave me a box.

Q: I just bought this bike a couple of days ago in my target store and LOVE it! My question is, does anyone know how to raise/ adjust the handle bars?

submitted by Robbie - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi Robbie - this bike has a threadless handlebar stem and can't be raised. Thanks

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 6 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: A slight amount of adjustability (a few inches) is possible if you have an Allen wrench and change the angle of the stem. I raised mine for better posture. I can see better and I'm not leaning over as much.

submitted byTommy - 3 years ago

Q: what is the maximum weight the bike support and what is the tire pressure ? I looked at the tire but it is not clear

submitted by peter - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi peter, we don't have a weight limit. It's best to make sure your bike is assembled properly and that adjustments are made correctly. The general psi range is 50 - 75 psi. Thanks for your questions!

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 6 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: I put 40 psi in both front and rear. Works good.

submitted byDanny - 6 years ago

Q: Bike says it has an aluminum frame and is light weight but shows at 43lbs. Is that correct?

submitted by Russ - 7 years ago
  • A: Hi Russ, this bike weighs 37.5 lbs. Thanks for pointing this out - we're working on getting that corrected.

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 7 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: The sign in the Frisco, TX store said 34 pounds. I like the lighter weight Schwinn Circuit (29 pounds) but that bike only has about one inch clearance between the pedal in forward position and the front wheel, so really bad toe overlap. This bike is much better in that regard.

submitted byTexasCustomer - 7 years ago

Q: Can the handlebars be raised? Are they adjustable?

submitted by James - 2 months ago
  • A: Hi. Great question, the handlebars on our Trailway, unfortunately, cannot be adjusted. Warm Regards.

The bike itself rode well but it had two major product defects within the first month of having it. Contacted schwinn and the repairs would have cost as much as the bike, dont recommend it

Great when New

4 out of 5 stars
Dan - 1 year ago
Loved the bike new... About 5 years now...rebuilt crank bearings, 2 missing spokes, out of true tire, plastic around rear gears (not important) broken, reflectors on spokes eventually broke and just flew away while riding (like, what was that noise, and looking to see only one end of the reflector still there). Still rides good, at least it will once I get new spokes and true the back wheel. Just recreational riding on streets and paved paths, longest ride has probably been 15/20 miles. Summer family riding mainly. Always stored in garage so not weather damage. I did pull a child trailer and trail bike with it, so maybe that was hard on the bearings. Nice bike, good features, comfortable, rides smooth and fast. Just not long term quality, have to keep fixing. The crank bearing was after just 2 years. Maybe newer versons are better? Trade off for price vs quality? Not that its cheap, still an investment. I have 20 year old bikes that hold up better, but aren't as comfortable. It's all in what you are looking for. I enjoy riding it when its working. It really does ride nice. The gearing and shifters are good. Recommend? Maybe.

there two problem the first is the break was touching the front wheel but it is not a big deal but my second problem when you go fast a stop you can loose your grip on the seat I recommend a different seat or a better grip cover. and please check the bike from the store if the break are working fine like not to tight or loose and maybe buy a different seat and a pump if you don't have one. thank you for reading my review

Nuce but issues

3 out of 5 stars
freddyzp1 - 2 years ago
purchased 2 weeks ago and after the first ride I had to contact Schwinn about a shifting issue. The front derailler was out of adjustment. Schwinn was nice enough to send a replacement along with adjustment instructions with videos on how to. I decided for the amount of money I spent that I need to exchange and get another. The second bicycle was better until yesterdays short ride and the gears just keep shifting while peddling. Today I took my bicycle to local shop for repair/adjustment. I get it, Target is not a professional bicycle shop, but for the price point it should have operated better than it did. So in my two purchases I'm batting 100% have problems. I do like the look and style of the bicycle, but spending an extra 75.00 just to get to ride my bicycle doesn't make me happy.

Okay but better options

2 out of 5 stars
Cdh58 - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
This is my second hybrid and was not close to the quality of the other. The first thing I noticed was the weight, it’s heavy. The gears are very cheaply made. It rides smoothly but shifting gears made me feel I was going to break the plastic piece right off. Definitely better options out there. Will be returning mine.

Excellent purchase. Rode it out of the store and loved it from the first day. Versitile and easy to maneuver. Seat is a bit stiff and odd shaped. Gears are a bit finicky until you get used to them. But other than that its an amazing bike for the price. Aluminum frame is a nice at this price point.

Tried to assemble this bike, but it required a 17mm Allen wrench. Couldn’t find one online, and they didn’t have any at any store in a 50 mile radius. Most people didn’t even know that existed. It’s going back to the store.

seems like a great bike. unfortunately with so many other things today, whoever writes the instructions assumes you are a mind reader or a bike mechanic. it requires so many tools and so much knowledge you should be a bike mechanic or engineer to be able to assemble this. I can't figure out how to do the next step. all I wanted to do was ride a bike. shame on me for thinking I'd buy a bike and ride it and not want to throw it out for being impossible to assemble
