Book Synopsis

Available for pre-order - a heartwarming new WWII saga of friendship, bravery and scandal that sees a young woman swap a Welsh mining town for Buckingham Palace

The year is 1944 and WWII has a firm grip on Europe. In South Wales, seventeen-year-old pit miner's daughter Rosa Edwards has just secured the position of royal maid at Buckingham Palace.

Setting off to the big smoke with only a small suitcase, she is determined to seize this opportunity while her new sweetheart is away fighting - and track down her best friend Alice, who moved to London and disappeared without trace.

But the dust has barely settled on Rosa's new job when a grave accusation of dishonesty leaves her position in the balance. And when a salacious scandal involving Alice makes front-page news, Rosa must choose where her loyalties lie, and whether her new life is the one she wants after all . . .

About the Author

Annie Seymour is a historical fiction writer who lives in Cambridgeshire and is at her happiest when she is researching and writing true untold stories about women's lives, combined with anecdotes about our royal family whose lives continue to fascinate. Annie was a former journalist and started writing women's features for her local newspaper at the age of sixteen. She believes the skills she learned then equipped her with an endless curiosity and fascination for people's lives that will remain with her forever. Her new Secrets of the Royal Maids series is inspired by Rosa Edwards, a poor pit miner's daughter from Merthyr Tydfill in the Welsh valleys who in real life became a royal maid during WWII.
