Self-Watering Saddle Railing Planter, 16"

Bought this to rescue some snapdragons which bunnies in our yard found delicious. The planter is intelligently designed. Will fit many widths of railing. Has drainage plates that will allow half an inch of water to drain into the bottom of the planter. This means you need to use pots for your plants to avoid root rot. (Or you can solder holes in the planter but that would mean messy drainage beneath it.) Photos are of just-planted snappies. You will notice I used bubble wrap to help minimize the wobble between the planter and the rail where the planter overhangs. I might think of a better solution down the line. Price-wise, $39 is really, really high for this product. However, I was charmed to see that it is made in Italy! I am guessing that explains the added cost - tariffs or some such. I have visited Italy and understand why a planter like this might have been invented there - lots of flowers, lots of terraces. Bella Italia! Anyway, very happy with the purchase. Hoping the company finds a way to lower the cost. Good product for foiling the bunnies!
