Q: I used this to clean my laptop and keyboard, and now they smell like tar and burning rubber for days. Is the smell bad for your health? Did the wipes damage my laptop?

A: Hi CC, you may be smelling the Thymol in these wipes which is the main disinfecting ingredient. Thymol is derived from the herb thyme and has a very strong natural smell to it. We have tried to compliment the smell of this ingredient with other essential oils like lemongrass and citrus but we understand that it's not something that will work for everyone. Q: Is this effective against novel coronavirus?

A: Our disinfecting products are not registered for efficacy against Coronavirus/COVID-19. While our disinfectants have not been evaluated for Coronavirus/COVID-19, they are registered to kill a broad variety of viruses and bacteria (refer to product label for details). Because COVID-19 is new there are currently no EPA-registered disinfectant products specifically labeled for COVID-19. In response and coordination with the CDC, EPA activated its Emerging Pathogen Guidance, under which certain EPA-registered disinfectant products that have shown efficacy against harder to kill viruses are expected to also be effective against an emerging pathogen, such as the novel coronavirus- we have applied to making this (indirect) claim but this is pending EPA approval. The CDC advises people to practice good hand hygiene and to clean and disinfect surfaces. To disinfect frequently touched surfaces use an EPA registered disinfectant. These are gross- they smell like cat urine. I have a hard time believing they kill germs, to be honest. I’ll take the “toxic” Lysol wipes that I know will kill germs, thanks.

Not sure how this is more “natural” because the smell is def not that. I rarely write bad reviews, but it smells like bathroom cleaner bleach. It took me like 5-6 hand washes to wash it off, and even so there was a hint of the stench.

The smell was awful, definitely not the regular scent. The wipes made my hands burn and as expensive as they are, I could not use them. There are reviews on the 7th Generation Disinfecting Spray with the same problem. Went to another Target location thinking it was a bad batch; and opened the top, same awful, toxic smell left in the store.

I absolutely love this product! Please don't discontinue the orange one with thymol. I have a horrible mold and collombolla problem in my home and this is the ONLY product that effectively keeps life tolerable. Thymol is incredibly effective when cedarwood is not. Lemon and lemongrass, while they smell better, are not helpful with larger resistant organisms. Some products have smells that aren't great, however it is often well worth dealing with the smell to have ingredients that are the best and often ONLY agents that kill annoying and sometimes dangerous pathogens.

These were the only wipes I could tolerate the smell of when I was pregnant. Any other wipes I felt like the smell was too potent and chemically to the point where I could almost taste it and gave me a headache. The scent of these reminds me of a yoga studio. I’m now postpartum and still sensitive to most smells and I still use these wipes. I wish they came in a value pack rather than individual.

I have been using these for over a decade, I think. They are my go-to cleaning product for pretty much everything. I wish I would use more sustainable options, but these are so much easier and faster. I like that they aren't harsh chemicals so I feel safe using them in the kitchen and around kids and pets. If they are as green as they claim to be, they're a great product. I have no idea what the issue with the smell is that so many people are complaining about. They have a relatively mild smell, in my opinion, for a cleaning product and the smell they do have isn't one that anyone I know finds offensive.

Ordered this and was very excited to get them and try them out. Unfortunately, they have a disgusting smell and we’re unusable. The smell was overbearing and I ended up returning them before using them because of the smell. I have used there other products and like them so it was disappointing to not be able to use these

I’ve washed my hands so many times but they still stink from these wipes. I bought these for my daughter’s high chair but I don’t want my hands to stink after cleaning her chair 3x a day. It’s funny that the positive reviews say “they don’t smell THAT bad”. Oh yes they do.

These smell like diesel. But worse somehow! And the stench won’t come off of my hands after I wash with soap and water multiple times! No way I would ever let my baby eat if of something I wiped with these putrid things.

Everyone is giving this a negative review because of the smell - to me the smell is fine! There are no disinfectant wipes that smell good, and at least this one doesn’t smell like bleach that’s harmful to breathe in. As someone who buys only cruelty free products, I hope seventh generation never stops making these. Because there are hardly any DISINFECTANT wipes out there that don’t test on animals. So I’m very happy to have these and they work great!

Sooo I wanted to like these because I’ve used this brand in the past and liked it. But oh boy the smell is something else. Maybe because it’s described as lemongrass I was not expecting it? Definitely doesn’t smell like lemongrass; it doesn’t even smell like lemon. It smells like Italian sausage.
