A: Thanks for your interest in our Lemon Zest Multi-Surface Cleaning Wipes. These wipes are not biodegradable. They are made of rayon and polyester and will not biodegrade. They are not flushable nor should they be composted. Most wipes are disposed of via regular trash in a landfill. No disinfectant or cleaning wipe can authentically claim the wipe is biodegradable because even biodegradable wipes do not biodegrade if they are disposed of in a landfill. Because used wipes are disposed of in landfills, making biodegradation claims are false and misleading. Seventh Generation prioritizes chlorine-free whitening processes over biodegradability in wipes for this reason. We hope that someday the conditions of land filling will be conducive to biodegradation or that someone will develop a material that biodegrades under current landfill conditions. Until such time we will not make biodegradable claims on our wipes. We hope this helps!
