Cottage Bench with Shelf - Alaterre

It arrived in the box. The bottom shelf is too big and you physically cannot assemble the item. Very frustrating as it’s not easy to return

It is sturdy and adorable! I love it! Assembly was super easy and it even came with a little screwdriver!

The look is fine, it seems sturdy but my issue is the smell when it arrived. I am not sure it it was the paint but the whole box smelled. It was also small then I expected.

Delivery was fine. Bench pieces seemed of good quality. Hwoever the color has much more of a dull paint rather than a “black” color. Looks more like an off-purple.

The bench is easy to put together and fits well in my small hallway space. However, as other reviewers have noted, the black color is not black and is more of a dark blue/grayish color. I wish the photos more accurately reflected this as if I had known it I would have gotten a different color. The (not really) black looks odd next to my (definitely) black mirror.

Perfect for under my window for a few plants and to hold the electronics below. Simple and clean.

I ordered this bench to go at the end of my king size bed footboard. It’s just the right height and length. It is made super sturdy (I was concerned about its sturdiness because my grandson climbed on my other one) and the color I ordered (ivory) is a very nice true ivory. It went together fast and had no issues with this bench whatsoever. I would certainly recommend it if your looking a for a smallish size bench. I purchased mine when it was on sale for 95.00 plus I got 10.00 off for purchases over 75.00 and then an additional 5% off so it was inexpensive enough :)

Better than expected. Easy to assemble

I normally don't go online and review items I buy, but I had to share our experience since we bought it based on the previous positive reviews. The first thing my husband and I noticed was that the color was definitely more navy blue than the black color we ordered. I've looked at it in all different lighting, and it's definitely not black. The bench came packaged very nicely, with each piece individually wrapped. My husband unwrapped the top piece, and never looked at the top. He just took it out and set it on our carpeted floor. After he was done putting it together, he turned it over and we saw that the top was completely scratched! The cuts are so deep and long, it looks like someone took a utility knife and scratched it. We aren't sure how this would have happened, since it was all wrapped up, and I don't understand how it could have happened during shipping. It seems that the paint comes off and transfers very easily as well. We moved it aside by our wall after assembly, and when it touched the wall it made a dark mark on it that won't come off. I plan to return this item and get a different one. I just don't want to take this chance again.

Nice little bench . A few minor glitches putting it together but my husband was able to fix the problems .

Perfect entry-way bench

Great choice! Great quality, nicely built and sturdy. Easy to assemble by myself and took less than 15 minutes. It even includes the hex screwdriver which was slick. Works perfectly in the spot we needed to fill as a tv stand. And got it on sale! Should last a long time.

Love it ! Put together by myself in about fifteen minutes although couldn't use he tool provided.

Great for small entryway. Sturdy, beautiful cream color. Perfect to use when guests need to remove shoes.

Nice looking bench, and great price. Only complaint is the screwdriver that came with it didn't fit the screw head. Lucky we had one that worked.

great little piece of furniture. fits perfectly in my small spot. easy to assemble. says it may take 2 to put it together, but my husband was able to do it by himself. only reason it didn't get all 5 stars is because the chocolate color was more expensive than the black one. and of course i wanted the chocolate is what i wanted. my chat assistant was able to help me out. she was awesome!

This is a nice sturdy bench, assembles pretty easily. Although, the screws require an abnormal shaped screwdriver. One is included in the box, however it's super cheaply made and actually wouldn't have been useful for assembly. Thankfully I had a drill bit tip that was the correct shape and we used that just fine. I gave this item 4 stars for quality, only because even after very meticulous adjustments, it still wobbles the tiniest bit. Not at all bothersome to me, but my architect boyfriend may lose some sleep over it. I have it sitting on a standard 2x3' rug and it's level on that. I like this particular bench because i can store shoes on the rug underneath it, as well as on the shelf, creating essentially 2 shelves-worth of storage space, plus a sitting spot for putting shoes on. The quality of this item is really nice, it's not flimsy at all.

Very easy to assemble. Instructions suggested two people, but I was able to put it together on my own...only took about 20 minutes. Color is perfect and fits nicely the foyer.
