    The scent is nice and it makes my skin soft however it seems like the formula changed and the new texture is a bit strange and it doesn’t exfoliate as effectively. I have purchased this a couple times in the past and liked it a lot, but I wouldn’t buy this again sadly.

    A (literally) watered down version of its former s

    I have bought the Shea Moisture brand for years, specifically this scrub. It smelled amazing, and was a really good grainy scrub that left my body feeling super soft. I bought the reformulated version and I am so disappointed. It is watered down now and has barely any grit to it that made the old version such a great scrub. I also noticed (since this product has sat in my shower for years) that they have removed the name of Shea Moisture's founder (Sofi Tucker) off the back of the package, and now call her "a pioneering mother of four and entrepreneur". I was so disappointed to see Sofi's name removed -it feels like the company is intentionally trying to distance itself from her origin story which is what made the brand feel special to me in the first place. If you look closely at the reviews and ignore all the incentivized Influenster reviews, you'll see many others agree with me. Due to this and the product change I will be looking for a new scrub/brand as the brand is sadly nothing special anymore.

    Changed, and not for the better

    I have used this scrub for years. It used to be so good - in addition to the amazing scent it had a "grit" to it that no other scrub matched. They reformulated it - the ingredient list looks less "clean", and now feels watered down and not at all like a good scrub. I am also really bummed because they removed mention of Sofi Tucker's name (inventor of Shea Moisture) on the back of the package, now referring to her as a generic "mother of four and entrepreneur". I don't know why but this really rubbed me the wrong way and left me feeling like the brand is a watered down version of its former self, and not really worth going out of the way to buy anymore. I'm sadly now looking for a new holy grail scrub.

    Bring back original formula

    This scrub was our family go to it exfoliated and hydrated I use to recommend it all the time. Sadly the new formula ain't it. It doesn't exfoliate and it left my skin feeling extremely dry. Please go back to original formula nothing was wrong with it.

    LISTEN!! This scrub is the only scrub that gets down to business. BUT I’ve been looking everywhere for the original and come to find out the company changed the formula. I will be sticking to tree hut because this not it!!

    This use to be my favorite exfoliator for years. But I recently bought it and realized they changed the formula. Scent smells different, texture is different and it’s less exfoliation than the older formula. It use to feel luxurious now it just feels/smells cheap. Disappointed.

    Not exfoliaring anymore

    Formula changed. Such a bummer. Use to be more of a real scrub. There’s a lot less sugar in it. It’s really more to hydrate the skin than to exfoliate. Won’t be purchasing again unfortunately.

    So moisturizing!

    Formula Change and Bait-and-Switch Issue with Same-Day Delivery

    I am very frustrated with this product and how it is currently listed on Target’s website. The product image and description show the original SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Illuminating Hand and Body Scrub, but I have now placed two separate same-day delivery orders and received the newer reformulated version both times. This feels like a bait and switch. If the original formula has been replaced, the listing should be updated to reflect that. Advertising the old product while delivering a completely different formula is misleading. The ingredient changes are significant. The original scrub was oil- and butter-based and did not contain water or cleansing surfactants. The new formula adds water and surfactants such as cocamidopropyl betaine, which completely changes how the product performs. Instead of a rich, moisturizing exfoliation, the new version feels gunky, leaves a white residue on my skin in the shower, and does not exfoliate effectively. Most disappointing is the loss of hydration. The original formula left my skin soft and moisturized long after showering. With the new formula, my skin does not feel hydrated at all. Unfortunately, this decline reflects a larger pattern seen after the brand was sold by its original founders, where products originally created for melanated skin and hair are reformulated as they go mainstream, despite the original formulas being the ones that actually worked.

    I’ve used this scrub for years and now the formula has changed. It’s less effective at exfoliating and watered down, it doesn’t smell as nice, and it’s not nearly as moisturizing as the old formula. This wasn’t broken so why fix it?????
