Singer Classic 44S Heavy Duty Sewing Machine

I bought this during the holidays when it went on sale and I love it so much!! I made quite the upgrade buying this machine and it is even better than I could have imagined. Definitely worth the purchase!

I have owned this machine for several years. It never disappoints. It’s my go-to machine 95% of the time.

My old Singer quit after 60 years of service. I bought a new Singer as a Christmas present to myself and am happy that I did. A lot of my sewing is repairing my son’s work coveralls and the 44S is up to the challenge.

I purchased this machine in 2020. It worked ok for awhile. I’M having constant problems with the bobbin tension. I can’t not fix the tension.. it’s bunching up and making a huge mess under the fabric. I am so frustrated with this machine. I have had several singer machines- this one sucks. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MACHINE❗️

I've owned the Singer Heavy Duty 44S for almost 2 years. I've had no problems sewing thin material and heavy material. This machine is very easy to thread, clean and oil. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. I do recommend you read the instructions prior to use. I wish though, that it were easier to slow down the speed. I took the foot pedal apart and did as instructed to slow it down, but it still sews fast making me have to turn the wheel by hand for very small areas.

Refurbished machines came dirty and missing pieces in my experience (initial order and replacement). Wasn’t sure if machines are actually refurbished. Mine looked like returns sent out to me but unable to verify that.

I had 2 of these machines because i sewed costumes for a children theater company. When i moved i donated them. I missed having a machine so finally ordered me another one

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For me, the way I judge a sewing machine, is if it can stitch/hem jeans. This machine did that with no issues. It didn’t get stuck, went smoothly. It has a foot peddle to control how fast/slow it goes. The bobbins stay put and are easy to change. I’m very pleased with it.

Let me start by saying that I am new to operating a sewing machine and I wanted one for some various projects I was tackling. This machine makes things much easier than I ever expected. I spent quite a bit of time watching the videos to learn proper operation and have tackled a few smaller projects. This machine gives me the confidence to try to tackle more. It has a lot of stitches and comes with all the extras to create even more stitching opportunities. Its super easy to set up and get started. It's important to think about the fact that this is a heavy duty sewing machine. With my basic sewing machine, I often broke needles when sewing over thicker fabric like denim or duck cloth canvas. This machine definitely has the capability to smoothly sew over those thicker type of fabrics easily and quickly. The Singer brand has been around for a long time and with good reason. This one is no different. Well made machine and user friendly.

I had an older machine that a family member gave me, but it just felt like it was struggling. However, this machine just glides through like theres nothing even there! I dont hear the machine strain, it doesnt bunch up around the foot and it just makes the repairs so much easier. I actually think I can finally patch up my fireproof pants with this, the other machine just gave up. An added and well appreciated bonus is the included sewing kit. Love this machine!

I can basically using this for sewing a lot of thick material and with the crafting bundle is also can sew and cut the edge stich in the same time! The first installation probably little bit confusing with only read the instruction paper, but nowadays you can just search the video instruction online. Even my mom who already 70 years old can use this easily! If you have this you don't need another sewing machine!

She loves it. Although I don’t know how to use it, she says it’s very smooth and very quiet. The only issue she had was, for some reason, there wasn’t an owners manual in the box and she had to google how to use the different functions. Slowed things down a bit, but she was still happy with me over her machine!

All the knobs / adjustments are built for years of use/misuse. All parts of the machine are built strong. I'm not afraid of abusing the machine; it will be with me for many years. I'm getting rid of other sewing machines I purchased but never used because the Singer 44S does ever thing I need it to do. It comes with quite a few accessories that I dive into in the near future. Plus the ease of use makes it unbeatable. The 44S is very simple to setup and use. I read the instructions and was able to easily tread the needle and fill and install the bobbin. Sewing thick fabric is as easy as working with thin material. The instructions translated well into practical use. The foot pedal works well. A longer foot pedal cable would be helpful. In summary, the Singer 44S Heavy Duty sewing machine will do everything I need and more. It has motivated me to start sewing old camping gear and maybe create new items for backpacking. It will be a big money saver. I would recommend the Singer 44S to anybody from a novice to an advanced sewer.

Runs smoothly and quietly. Heavy-duty so can sew through layers and handle thickness such as denim. Love being able to hem pants with this little jewel.
