This machine is versatile and easy to use. I bought it to make a raw-edge appliqué quilt for my granddaughter, and the pre-programmed stitch styles have been such a bonus... I also like that I have the flexibility to adjust stitch length and tension with the easy-to-use buttons on the machine. The pdf manual gives clear instructions, and the sewing table attachment makes quilting much easier, too. Great little machine and I'm very pleased with my purchase.
Machine stability

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not really happy with the machine without the attached table. The machine tends to 'tilt' backwards' with no support. It appears that this style is intended to be used inside a table. I mainly purchased this style from following Hometown Quilt Co Tic Toc. She uses this style for her students and herself. Should have done more research prior to my purchase.

I have had one less than 2 years and it’s been repaired under warranty then locally. Don’t understand why singer sewing machines have gotten so fragile. It’s hard to do straight stitching more than an inch with out having some kind of disruption. Very frustrating

I really like my machine, but it's louder than I anticipated. My mom also has a singer and this one is a lot louder than hers

You can't sew more than 2 layers of fabric. You can't sew where seams meet. The feed dogs will chew it up and not allow it move forward. It also will NOT allow free quilting. There is no button to lower the feed dogs.

My husband hates this machine because he never sees me now. I on the other hand love it! This is a multi functional, easy to use machine for both beginners and advanced sewers. It comes equipped with just about every attachment needed so no additional purchases are necessary and even includes a case to keep dust off if you ever decide to store it. With the amazing features you will definitely find yourself creating projects to do or complete. I have owed many machines throughout the years and this one replaces my previous singer machine that my daughter borrowed but never seemed to want to return…lol. This machine is the Best investment ever!

So I am fairly new to sewing. I had a singer prelude previously and it was just a basic sewing machine. This machine is a definite upgrade. I haven’t used any of the fancy stitches but I am in love. The price point cannot be beaten for all this machine offers. I watched a few basic reviews on you tube before purchasing and so far everything they said was spot on. I would highly recommend this machine for any newbie or even intermediate sewer.

Once receiving the machine, I just had to use it. The machine was easy to function with and the lines I made on my jeans came turned out straight and well sewed.

Really like this Singer 7285Q. Nice machine to do quilting of all kinds and regular sewing to. The only issue I have is that you don’t get a machine manuel unless you go on a link to read. Or order a hard copy like I did. The set up instructions that came with it are ok to set it up but I like having a hard copy in case I have a question about how to operate the computerized panel and what are all the options for. Otherwise it’s a great machine.

I am very pleased with my new singer machine. I haven’t sewed on a new machine since the late 70’s when my mom got hers. Then in home Ed class at school had the very same machines. Yes I know I am showing my age. But point being…I am a SINGER sewing machine girl. I was really leery about getting a machine with a computer, but so far everything’s been fantastic.

I love the machine. Its quiet and sews like a dream. The features are easy to use even though i was a bit intimidated at first with the computerized features. The only reasom i gave a 4 star rating is that sometimes when im using the walking foot to quilt the needle sticks in one spot and i have to pull the fabric from the back to get it moving again. Its not a deal breaker, just an annoyance. Doesnt seem to affect the stitches.

I am almost 79 and I just bought my Singer 7285Q to supplement the machine I purchased a year after college. I'm not a quilter, but the "Patchwork" incorporatse all the advancements I've been admiring over the years. I love, as well as thoroughly appreciate, the conveniences. And the range of adjustability in the specialty stitches makes it much easier to customize my projects. I am still getting used to a new angle for lifting the presser foot and to having a backup stitch which behaves differently. But, I'm not too old to learn - or to have a great 21st Century Singer !
