If the fire pit has been left for an extended amount of time with the grass not being exposed to sunlight, it will cause the grass to die/discolor in that area. We recommend using a Stand when placing your fire pit on grass to provide enough space around the fire pit’s lower vent holes and to protect the health of your lawn. If your grass is tall and/or thick, it is possible your grass will still die even if using the Stand with your Solo Stove.

A: If using your fire pit on a wood or trex deck we recommend purchasing the Bonfire Stand that goes underneath the fire pit. When paired with the Stand, you can use our fire pits on a wooden deck safely. The very bottom rim of your Solo Stove is actually the coolest part of the unit, so a little insulation between your Solo and the surface it will rest on goes a long way. A: The perfect smokeless flame requires quality, dry fuel. Kiln-dried hardwoods such as oak, or maple have a low moisture content, so they’ll burn at a higher temperature and give your flames a smooth secondary burn effect.
