Q: What is the difference between this and a life vest?

A: This is intended to be used as a tool as children build confidence swimming in the water. This is not U.S. Coast Guard approved, where our Speedo Life Jackets/Vests are and can be used for boating, etc.

This is not U.S. Coast Guard approved however please check out our Kids PFDs (personal flotation devices)/life vests on the site for our U.S. Coast Guard approved options. This will be noted in the details section underneath the images.

Great swim vest!
This is a great swim vest for my 7/8 yo! She is a pretty strong swimmer, but we still require her to use this in most natural water (beach, river, lake, etc.). The last one held up great until she outgrew it and now we bought the large size (size reference: 49 inches height, 42 lbs. weight) and it fits perfectly. It is light weight, doesn't get in her way and she is willing to use it!

Zipper Should Be in the Back
I had to order this because my son didn’t fit into his puddle jumper anymore. Overall, I think he is very comfortable in it and it dries very fast, but I wish the zipper was in the back so that he could not undo it himself!

Great product
Swim vests are easier to move in than life jackets but keep kids safe while swimming in the lake. Speedo brand uses thinner materials, so they are more comfortable while still being safe and of great quality.
