Seems be a more quality peice from One I have bought before. More tension in the stepper, tougher workout

This is my second one. And I've had it for a few years now with no problems. I gave away the first one when I moved out of state. One of the best machines I've had. It is great if you are a hard core athlete and want over the top stamina and leaping abilities! It helped me be able to dunk a basketball and my quickness was off the charts. I'm looking to get one for my grandson as his secret weapon on the court when he makes it to highschool!

My only experience with steppers is at the gym and my grandmother's, which all function fine. On those, you step down on one step, the other goes up, and so on. Like a normal stair climbing would be. It's easy and only made harder by adjusting the tension. For this, it lays flat when you stand on it. No matter how light or heavy. Just flat. And you gotta constantly pump as hard and fast as you can to generate any stepping momentum, or it'll just lay flat with any weight. You burn out within a minute doing this and the device is not practical in the least bit and the tension does not matter unless it's on super tight at which point you can't even move it. I tried calling Stamina Products directly and they claim it's the shocks, however, shocks are labeled as "parts" and parts aren't covered under the 1 year warranty , but only for 90 days. So here I am with this useless paperweight.

Right out of the box the locking know was broken. Called customer service to get it replaced. Received the replacement know with no instructions on how to fix it.

I love this stepper, it is great. Yes, the hard part to putting it together was the handle bar grippers. In the manual it tells you to put dish soap on the bars first. I actually put a bit inside the grippers and also on the handle bars to make it easier to get them on and it worked. I like that you can change the tension. It is so nice just to get on and do a few steps everytime you walk past it. I'm totally pleased with it. I would definitely recommend this stepper.

Well, it was fine until today. It didn't really even reach 6 months and the right side piston broke this morning. I tried calling Target about warranty and was hung up on, so overall not a great experience with the machine itself nor with trying to find out about warranty. I will probably just try to buy a better machine. The fact it didn't even quite make it 6 months is really dissapointing.

I have been trying to use this for the past 6 weeks. I confirm what other reviewers have said about the awkward way this stepper works (or doesn't work). I don't know if it is a design flaw or a manufacturing defect. But as another reviewer said in her post (entitled "Meh" by Bee): "I've used plenty of steppers in my life, and they all work where you press down one side and the hydraulics lift up the other side. But this one doesn't do that. At least mine doesn't. I press down one side, and the other side stays down until I lift my foot up. .......does not flow naturally.... It's useless because it's so unenjoyable I don't even want to do it. So I'm not sure if something is wrong with my stepper or if that's how they designed it to function, but very uncomfortable." Spot on. I am having the same experience. --A few other people noted that resistance decreases after 20-30 minutes. I can't use it for more than 5 minutes before the resistance fails and both steps sink to the floor. To adjust resistance every few minutes during a workout is just not practical. --Others have mentioned how the back of the steps bang into the floor on the underside during their workout. This happens consistent with when it loses resistance and the steps just seem to sink and float and bang. I really would like to be able to use this, but it is so frustrating that it is, in a word, USELESS.

Decent price if it worked how I expected, and decently sturdy.

I purchased this stepper in April 2013. Use it for 1 out of 4 workouts every week (stairmaster, ashtanga yoga, barbells/kettlebells/weights, spinning). It is now 2021 and I still use the same stepper for 45-50 minutes every week - without fail - almost 8 years later. It’s not fancy. In fact, it’s kinda ugly. But it sure is the Old Faithful of home workout machines and it will probably live in my home gym long after my Peloton and Olympic bench becomes a hand-me-down to my kids.

very easy to put together Works very well, compact but sturdy

Part of it broke during delivery, but was a part that wasn’t a big deal. Set it up and got it working easy enough. Then when I went to fold it back up, another part of it broke. Returning/exchanging it would be a pain, due to size. Hopefully I can get some replacement parts. It still works fine, just can’t fold it up now.

I ordered this item based on recommendation from a friend who bought hers early during COVID shutdowns but when I went to order it back in April it was sold out. I recently saw that it was back in stock (and cheaper than it was in the Spring). It arrived within less than a week and my husband set it up, pretty easily. Per most reviews though, the hardest part of assembly was the handle bar grips. Otherwise, it was an easy set up of less than an hour. So far I've used it twice and loving how easy yet effective it is! Due to the good weather we have in Florida, I've set it up in our outside lanai area. Definitely gives the legs a good work out and the varying resistance levels makes it a great piece of equipment to incorporate into a daily exercise regime.

Like the item and would recommend for anyone furnishing a modest home gym. Easy to assemble, set up and take down.

Piece was broken when I opened it in the box and been trying to get a hold of the company for weeks now. Nobody’s answering and the one time they called back I was not there to answer it.

Great machine for the price. Need to adjust resistance during workout as it loosens up but great buy especially with gyms closed!

So I got this exercise machine. It's perfect! It takes up a tiny bit of space, which makes exercising easy to do. I've created my own gym routine at home.

We frequently use the Starimaster 4400cl when working out at the gym. We were looking for a portable affordable replacement when the gym closed due to covid. This stepper is easy to install (need lubrication for handle pads), and the stepping motion is very similar to a regular stepper and get a good cardio workout. The clylinders lose a bit of resistance after 15 minutes but my wife does not have to change her resistance after 20 min. I am 6'3' and weigh 225lbs and I have to increase resistance twice for a 20 minute workout. But once you figure this out you should be good to go. This has given us a good cardio replacement for the stairmaster we usually use, and is portable enough (foldable, weighs about 45lbs) to take with us on an extended road vacation.

Works great. Easy setup..Both my hubby and I use it.

Love it works perfect along with my stationary bike.
