The biggest warning I can give, is Night Light (Night mode) on windows will not goto monitors docked to most StarTech products. A small thing but can be a deal breaker for many users that IT support. So if you think it might be a thing for your company, try shopping about / testing docks first!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our DK30CH2DEP. You are correct that the Night Light feature in Windows will not work with our dock, as this is not supported with the DisplayLink Graphics drivers used by the docking station. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Trash component that doesn't tell you if it's on or off? How do you not have driver bundles, instead we need to pick up individual drivers on something that should be plug and play.. this product is going back to IT because it's trash

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have had with our DK30CH2DEP. You are correct, our dock uses a DisplayLink chipset to power the external displays and does require a driver which can be found on our Drivers & Downloads tab. You can also find an off/off switch at the rear of the dock next to the power jack with clear ON/OFF markings to indicate if the dock is powered on or is offline. I'm using this as a dock for my Mac and a single external monitor. It's working great, as the older DisplayLink dock I had only supports 30hz out, while this one supports 60hz, and it also charges my Mac! I mainly use a dock because I switch between my work and my personal laptop, across 2 different desks, so instead of a KVM switch I decided that a dock worked better. I also don't have space to put 2 laptops side-by-side. So this was perfect

This is the second startech.com dock I've owned, and both have had significant issues. This one frequently shuts itself down if I'm in the middle of an activity that is a high load (hosting a Zoom meeting, with multiple applications running and multiple monitors). I get that's a high load, but it's exactly the reason you need dock.

This was a corporate device, so had to use. Works most of the time, but with a corporate laptop, I have to get permission to install additional software that may help with DP issues, although Windows 11 should address them natively. Right now, my 32 LG FHD display is not being seen correctly, displaying 640 x480, while my Acer 27" is fine. Makes zero sense as it was working yesterday!!

I just bought this and hooked it up to my chromebook Version 91.0.4472.25 asus c302c. Only the 2 monitors display and the native monitor. Otherwise everything else seems to work fine. Disappointed.

My company picked up one of these for me a while back and It's been a workhorse. Pros: 1. Plenty of ports 2. Second USB-C port 3. Quick charge port on the right side. 4. 3 functioning monitors! Cons: 1. No ports in front. Could use more than the single side-port. 2. The DP passthrough goes to the HDMI 2.0 port rather than a DisplayPort output. 3. DisplayPort ouputs are on their own controller - making them less ideal for latency and high bandwidth streams. (Gaming) 4. Sometimes it'll bug out and I'll need to reset the device and my computer. (1/month or two)

We appreciate your detailed review and feedback. The DK30CH2DEP is designed for office and other standard uses. The DisplayLink chip used in the DK30CH2DEP is not intended for gaming.

This is the third dock I attempted to get working with my HP zBook G5. It's also the first one that works perfectly. I run 2 2K (2560x1440 at 120Hz) monitors with no issues. All USB ports work, laptop charging, Ethernet, all work. I don't move my laptop often, but when I do, I absolutely love that I only have one cable to unplug and done.

This dock does not support clamshell mode (closing your laptop while using external monitors) and you cannot calibrate monitors that use DisplayPort (so forget about using dual displays since it only has one HDMI out). For a dock this price, you would expect it to be perfect, but every time an issue is raised or a feature is missing they blame Apple or say "It is planned, but we don't have a timescale for releasing it" If all you want is an expensive way of adding a bunch of USB ports to your mac, this will work (but I suggesting finding a cheaper one on Amazon).

Drivers are developed by DisplayLink, the maker of the chip used in this docking station. Certain limitations are as result of OS constraints, and some may be resolved through a future OS or driver update. We apologize certain features aren't currently available in our dock, but please check our latest driver downloads in case this changes with a future driver release by DisplayLink.

This is my second TRIPLE Monitor dock. Moved my first one to a remote office I use and upgraded to this one to have USB-C charge cable for my MacBook Pro. I had a small glitch with the driver BUT the 24 hour support was amazing. I called after midnight and Brandon listened and the took me through a series of troubleshooting steps. In no time I was up and going and issue resolved. Thanks for the superb support and for the knowledgeable process. That was an unexpected surprise the night before I really needed a fully functional office again. I recommend the product and the customer support. Thank you.

I bought this product back in August 2019 in anticipation of purchasing a large 4K Monitor to connect as my third monitor. The HDMI port of this product did not work and after many hours of troubleshooting I called customer service who informed me that this model dk30ch2dep HDMI port only works with a connection to a laptop that 1. has USB-C input AND 2. the laptop that supports DPA mode. This was not clearly spelled out in the description, you would have to click and deep dive further down on their website to see this limitation.

Hello Marty, We apologize for any confusion when purchasing our DK30CH2DEP. While we were unable to find when you purchased this dock, we'd like to advise that we do have updated bullet points for this product that show the HDMI port requires DP-Alt (DisplayPort Alternative) mode which is only available over USB-C. This is also why the dock only comes with a USB-C cable and not a USB-A cable.

Be careful, it is NOT possible to update this product firmware using a Mac system, even if the last update fixes a bug with Mac. Firmware upgrade has to be done using Windows. Got an explanation from the StarTech support team but in my opinion, this fact should be mentioned in product documentation as many users may not have access to a Windows system.

It does exactly what it says it will do. Perfectly. After unsuccessfully trying to get 2 different Dell docks to work with a Dell Inspiron, I switched to the DK30CH2DEP and have enjoyed perfect performance. I recommend this product.

A very nice device with a lot of functionality. Most is working properly. Also the two Displayport connections work fine. Unfortunately the hdmi doesn't. At least in combination with my MSI GF63 8RC notebook.

Unfortunately, the reason that the HDMI port isn't working is because that port requires DP-Alt (DisplayPort Alternative) mode from the USB-C port on the host computer and the USB-C port on the MSI GF63 8RC is a USB 3.1 Gen 1 data port and doesn't provide video. The DisplayPorts on the dock use DisplayLink technology to convert a USB data signal to video. If you need assistance finding a different way to connect three monitors to your computer we'd be happy to help you find one that does not use DP-Alt mode. If I connect to my 4K monitor through this dock, then I lose the HiDPI display options on my Mac. I can choose either 4K or 1080p. The former makes the text too small and the latter makes everything too big. If I connect directly from my Mac from USB-C to DisplayPort on the Monitor then I have options for scaling the Text, but if I connect to DisplayPort via this Dock, then I lose that option to scale the Text. This product is not good. I think DisplayLink is the problem. It's "recording" my screen with a driver system extension and propagating that through the dock to the display. This is creating an artificial software produced signal instead of using the built-in graphics.

This dock works GREAT, but only if I keep my laptop's power supply plugged in 100% of the time. Initially, we were about to return the dock (it appeared to continuously reboot) until I tried plugging my laptop power in. It's worked great since, with and without the provided drivers. My laptop came with a 90W power supply. I had fully expected to be able to power my laptop through the dock and am fairly disappointed in its inability (and lack of specification!!!). I don't know how a customer would gauge whether this could power their laptop - good luck!

If your computer does not support power delivery, then it can't accept the power that the dock is providing. We started purchasing these for our organization 2 Quarters ago and they work GREAT! Enough USB ports for peripherals, enough power delivery over TB3 to sustain even our high powered workstations (Dell Precision 5500 Series) and it works with our Dev teams MacBook Pro (Touchbar) systems. we ordered about 100 of these in all from our partner and I believe that we only ended up with a single defective unit.

This product DOES NOT work with my MBP. I purchased several of these for my team and they are having issues. Every day I have to reboot my laptop connected to the docking station because it losses connection. It starts with my screen going black and the associated connected monitors will go black as well. Then it returns after about 10 seconds, but then nothing works that is connected, keyboard, mouse, etc. I have to reboot the machine in order to get it working again. Coming in and out of sleep, hibernate mode, also seems to have some negative effect, where a reboot is necessary. The site says its MAC compatible, but I beg to differ. I'm going back to my dongle i picked up from my local store.

We are very sorry to hear the DK30CH2DEP dock is not working on your MacBook Pro. This dock is fully Mac compatible up to the latest version of MacOS so this behavior is not typical. This dock makes use of DisplayLink technology and requires software to use. in some cases, the plug and play software that is auto-installed is not up to date or can experience issues. Please first disconnect the dock from your MacBook. Next, navigate to your Applications and you should find a DisplayLink folder with an uninstall utility inside. Run the utility and please confirm DisplayLink is no longer there, then go to our website and download the latest drivers for your version of MacOS located at https://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/Laptop-docking-stations/triple-monitor-4k-usb-c-dock~DK30CH2DEP under the blue "Support" tab beneath the product picture. If you encounter issues after installing the most up to date drivers, please contact our support available 24 hours a day 5 days a week by calling 1 800 265 1844 or clicking the green "Chat Live" button at the top left of the site.
