A: Thanks for your question. Unfortunately this item is not completely air tight, but the hinges to assist with keeping the item closed + keeping unwanted items out.

Great size Hinged storage box
The 48 Qt. Hinged Lid Storage Box is a great container for seasonal decorations, I like that I can see what is in the container, it fits a lot of items and stacks nicely in the closet, I especially like the Hinged Lid, it seems more sturdy and I can place other containers on top of it, very easy to open and close the lid and remove items from the box quickly, it is so much better than using a cardboard box for storage. I received this product as part of a My-take research study.

Excellent storage box!
This is a super durable product that works well for storing multiple different items. For me this is an excellent product to have in the closet storing various things such as extra linens and out of season clothes. I'm super pleased with how sturdy this storage box is as sometimes they aren't as sturdy as they look. If you are looking for a clear box with an easy close/open attached lid than this is for you! Stackable and convenient
This is another great product from Sterilite. The box is large enough to store a variety of products but small enough to fit on a shelf. The attached lid is convenient but it can be tricky to remove items from the container without removing it from the shelf so the lid can be opened. Great storage bin!
Great storage bin with easy to open and close lid since there are hinges that keep the lid attached to the bin. The hinges are easy to reattach as our bin fell down the stairs and the lid had to be reattached. It is easy to carry for adults and kids and easy to use for storage of different things.

Love the tote but the lid only works for me
I have used this to store the are chicken feed, loved the hinged top but my husband really had trouble with his large fingers opening the lid. Otherwise i would have given this 5 stars. Easy to carry and see through so I knew when I need to buy more feed which is why I needed it. I like that it stacks nice and keeps everything clean and dry and does not let it go stale. I received this product as part of a My-Take research study.

The Goldilocks of totes, not too big, not too smal
I have purchased almost 100 of these over the past two years, first to organize and now to prepare to move. A few lids have been broken over time and I was wondering if just lid halves can be purchased. I don't necessarily care about the color as I have both white and platinum lids.

Need the colors back
I purchased this storage bin a few years ago this is the #1915 color: Aqua Spa and I'd loved to buy more! Please bring back these colors this spring of 2022!

Good But....Unable to find.
I have a great many Sterilite storage bins, large and small but prefer the smaller ones now, they are easier to lift and stack. Problem is, can NOT find them anymore. My preference, 48 to 50 qt. with latching lids. Where have they disappeared to??

Buying these by bulk was such a great deal. We have not put them to the test yet but they feel sturdy and durable. We love the clear body to see what is inside. There was a pretty strong plastic chemical like smell upon opening that was super unpleasant but that’s the only complaint so far.

Best storage
As a costume designer , I will always need totes. This tote is perfect . I don’t have to worry about losing a lid ever. It’s attached and is easily opened. Handles are strong and can take the weight of costumes. Would buy again.

All Verstile Product!
I use this crate not only in the warehouse area, but in my office as well. It allows me to have access to items needed for up coming events, while keeping in organized and out of the way. I cam see clearly what I have and know what I need more of. In the warehouse it allows me to sort donations that come in and have immediate access and knowledge as to where they are when I need them. Love these crates!

Model 1914 Sterilite Hinged Lid Storage Box (System)
The Model 1914 Sterilite Hinged Lid Storage Box is an excellent product due to the lid is ALWAYS attached, and when hinged open, allows full access to container. This lid system also allows for these boxes to be stacked one inside each other, without detaching the lid. A PERFECT SYSTEM. However, it is too bad that Sterilite chose to discontinue the smaller versions of the Model 1914, 48 quart container. These discontinued models are: the model 1902 (3 qt.), the model 1904 (7 qt.), and the model 1906 (15 qt.) The smaller Hinged Lid Storage boxes were a great product, and were very popular in my area. Now the loss is both to our area's convenience and use, and also a loss to Sterilite's earnings potential for the loss of this system of containers.

This product is so versatile
I absolutely love this container. I use this to store anything from seasonal decor, to donations, to clothes. The uses for this container are endless. The clear design makes it easy to see what is inside and the flip top lid keeps it from getting lost or broke. I would definitely buy more of these containers and I totally recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind seeing through the bin and any who needs a practical storage solution.

Great for Garage & Barn Storage
The hinged lid storage box is great for use in the garage and barn. The hinged lid makes it easy to open and the lid doesn't get misplaced. Great product!
