Q: Is the finish glossy or matte? It is hard to tell with the white/cream in the photos...
A: The finish on the ivory is glossy. I would beware of the matte plates- they are beautiful, but scratch very easily. I was very disappointed to see several scratches on the matte plates while I was in the store. I ended up choosing the ivory plates for that reason, plus they go with everything :)
submitted bytargetJunkie15 - 7 years agoA: It's is glossy with a matte/backside
submitted bynjcouponmom - 7 years agoA: It is definitely a gloss I have them
submitted bynjcouponmom - 7 years agoA: More of a gray def not white or cream
submitted bynjcouponmom - 7 years agoA: White is glossy glazed and black is matte. Wish it was mentioned in the description and I was hoping the white plates would also be matte.
submitted byAnna - 5 months agoA: the black is very matte. green and cream are just slightly glossy. if you want high gloss, these are not for you.
submitted byCC Rider - 7 years agoA: The black is matte and shows scratches easily. So disappointing. I am returning.
submitted byJill - 7 years agoA: The finish is glossy on the top of the plates and bowls and a matte on the bottoms and undersides.

Q: Do they chip easily, and do they get hot in the microwave?
A: A week of use is hardly enough to give you a sure answer, but we have had no issue with chipping. Stoneware CAN get hot in the microwave, but I think it more so depends on how long you have it in there and what's in it. With regular microwaving of leftovers for one or two minutes at a time, I've not had a plate come out hot yet.
submitted byokielove - 7 years agoA: I have had my plates now for a couple months and I am very disappointed. After YEARS of not buying matching dishes I finally got all of the Hearth and Home plates, mugs, bowls, etc... Almost all of my plates now have chips on them :( A couple of them have cracked right down the middle.
submitted bypuregold - 4 years agoA: I have had 2 of the plates crack down the middle with 1 minute time in the microwave, and they get very very hot on the bottom. I can't keep plates that I can't use int eh microwave.

Q: Ate the plates not round?
A: I have these plates for a few months now none of them cracked or have any chip in them. I used them in the microwave and throw them in the dishwasher, I find that in the microwave the plate doesn’t get as hot as other plates do which I find to be great. Stoneware is very durable compared to other dishes, but it doesn’t mean it can’t crack or chip or break it just means that they’re stronger than porcelain, Clay, pottery etc.
submitted byKate - 6 years agoA: They are mostly round but not perfectly circular, they really look handmade. And yes, they stack just fine.
submitted byokielove - 7 years agoA: Hi Mmierz09 - These plates would make a great addition to your dinner table! The plates have an uneven circular edge to give it a unique look. Thanks for stopping by! - Andrea

Q: Two people asked if these plates are oven safe. One Target 🎯 response was "No" the other answer to the second, same question was "Yes! They're microwave, dishwasher AND oven safe"! So, which IS it??
A: Hello Laugen - These plates are both dishwasher safe as well as microwave safe. Hope this helps - Maurice.
submitted byMaurice - 10 months agoTarget staff supportA: I brought these plates and afterwards, noticed the label on the bottom of the plate says "dishwasher safe" "not microwave safe" - came to this page to clarify I'm ready to throw them in the garbage.

Q: How do the plates hold up in the dishwasher? I noticed tha bottoms are not glazed and wonder about the stone picking up soap, etc.
A: I have these plates for a few months now they do very well in the dishwasher, clean and any surface scratches disappear etc. once they are stacked in the cupboard on occasion when I mediately put them in the cupboard directly from a finished cycle they will hold some moisture which in return the plates stacked underneath will be somewhat wet/damp. It’s a little annoying but no big deal. No soapy feeling though. It’s nice to use them in the microwave as they don’t get as hot as other dishes.
submitted byKate - 6 years agoA: Hi Heather - Thanks for the question! You can feel comfortable heating or cleaning this dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe dinner plate. Have a great day! – Terra

Q: Is the plate as oblong as the photo shows? if so, how can they stack up in a cabinet?
A: I have these plates for a few months now and they stuck up just fine, they don’t look neat or perfect but that’s what I love about them.
submitted byKate - 6 years agoA: Hi jms - These unique plates bring that extra special touch to the dinner table! The plates are raised so they will stack nicely in the cabinet. Thanks for stopping by! - Andrea

Q: Is the cream more off-white (beigy) or true white?
A: The cream is definitely off-white, not true white. It's lovely.
submitted byokielove - 7 years agoA: Hi A - This beautiful, unique plate will add that extra special touch to your table! The cream color is not really beige. We'd say it's more close to a white cream. Thanks for stopping by! - Andrea
