Q: Is this frequently used as a pie crust? I am looking to make a pie and if this works I might have to make a few pies.

A: Sweet Loren’s makes a pie crust. Pie crust and puff pastry are completely different in texture and thickness. I personally would not use puff pastry crust for pie crust. It would alter the taste of your pie as well.

With that being said, third party certifications are extremely important to us to make sure you know our claims surrounding Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Vegan, Kosher, and more are verified and validated. That being said, they do take quite some time to become official and ready for packaging. For our new products, we’re working on our typical certifications that our other products have always had and will update packaging when ready. Finding a gluten free puff pastry is so rare. I looked at the ingredients as I do and this ingredient they use was concerning to me. Wood or cotton pulp? No thanks. But that's just me. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is a water-soluble polymer derived from natural cellulose, typically sourced from wood pulp or cotton. It's produced by treating cellulose with an alkali, then reacting it with propylene oxide and methyl chloride to add hydroxypropyl and methyl groups to the cellulose chain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an awesome new product for gluten-free people. At my home I have two of them and this is opening great doors for us. My girls and I made the recipe that’s on the box for cinnamon twists. Sweet Loren’s puff pastry tastes good and comes ready to go. I also have a dairy-free member of my family and they enjoyed the baked goods we made. If you’re doing a larger project you’ll want more than one box of this pastry, the size was smaller than expected but the quality is great. Really watch your bake because the difference between done and overcooked is about 30 seconds. I highly recommend and will definitely purchase again. In fact next time we go to the store we’re gonna try out some of the other bakery products.

Worst product and experience with Sweet Loren's ever. Not only did the pastry not puff, there's was only enough product to make 6 pastries. The flavor is bland and greasy. It is extremely dense and will crack your teeth when you bite into it. I was so disappointed at the result that I reached out to the manufacturer and provided all the photo evidence they requested. Then they ghosted me. Obviously, customer service is not something Sweet Loren's cares about. With a cost of $9 for crappy pastry, this one is easy to mark off my list of future purchases. Do yourself a favor and get the Pilsbury pastry instead. It's cheaper, vegan, and puffs perfectly to provide a flakey and delicious pastry.

I have seen recipes using puff pastries for the breading and thought this would be a perfect use of these since I haven't been able to have the patties since I've had to shift to a gluten-free diet. From looking at cooking videos, this puff pastry sheet looks similar, perhaps a bit less flour dusting on it and a bit smaller. Nonetheless, I liked the light crunch and flakiness and softness. It didn't puff as much as I expected and I wish the sheet was a smidge larger, but I will definitely get them again. As for my success with the patties? Unfortunately because of the size and very little puffing, it was more reminiscent of an empanada than a Haitian patty. It tasted very good! But I hope to get the recipe right next time. I am happy with the flavor of the puff pastry so I am down to try it again. I don't know of any other gluten-free puff pastry, so this is going to be my go to for the foreseeable future.

I’m really annoyed that this brand puts allergen free on their labels when they include pea, oat and natural flavors in their products. Stinks of marketing not actually transparent or helpful labels.

Then rolled them up, slapped on an egg wash, and threw them in the oven at 425 for 15 minutes. DELICIOUS! They have the crunch, softness, and layers. It’s been a long time since I’ve had real puff pastry (I have celiac) but it satisfied me for sure!! I’ll be getting it again to try out homemade poptarts and to make pigs in a blanket :)
