TECHEF Onyx - 6pc Nonstick Cookware Set

For anyone who cares about look, feel and performance, this cookware set is a joy. With even heat distribution and a nonstick surface among the best there is, there's no going back for me. Extremely happy with my purchase.

Chicken thighs need about four minutes a side and then release without a fight. A splash of wine lifts every browned scrap off the bottom. Cooking meat midweek stopped being stressful.

Bought both the 8 inch and the 12 inch. The nonstick surface is great, but the 12 inch has a design flaw that makes it perform very poorly on induction. The key problem is that the steel plate on the base doesn't extend to the edge of the pan; the base is about 9.5 inches across but the steel section is only 7.25 inches. That causes several issues on an induction range. The pan is still too small to be reliably recognized by the large element, so you have to use the smaller elements, which take longer to heat a pan this size, and the pan blocks you from using the other small elements. The edges never get hot, because the heat only reaches a 7.25 inch circle in the middle, so it doesn't cook evenly. This pan would be great with a full size stainless plate. As it is, it's borderline unusable on induction and I'm considering returning it. The 8 inch works much better on induction because its plate is full size, but the 8 inch isn't good for omelettes, since the sidewalls are too steep and the transition from base to sides isn't smooth enough to turn one. I think they're nice pans generally, but they're already giving me grief on day one because of these design issues.

Half a dozen dishwasher cycles so far across every piece. No degradation on the coating, no dulling, handles all still tight. The dishwasher safe claim holds up, which isn't always the case.

About a week in I stopped reaching for anything else in the cabinet. Whatever I'm making, these are the ones that come out.

Gravy and small batch soup are exactly what the sauce pan is sized for, and the lid lets me watch a reduction without dumping the heat. I made bechamel from scratch in it last week and the milk never caught. A soft sponge afterward and it was done.

Husband is very happy with the purchase.

Bechamel went straight into the sauce pan with no double boiler, and the milk sat just below a simmer the whole way through. Nothing caught underneath. That used to be the job I kept putting off.

Brushed steel handles look sharp sitting on the range, but the practical part is that they stay cool through twenty minutes on medium. The plastic handle on my last pan went soft and tacky inside a year.

Between the six pieces there isn't a meal I can't make. Whoever picked the sizes was clearly a cook, because nothing in here sits unused.

Great on an induction cooktop.

Purchased this to replace a Calphalon whose nonstick had deteriorated, since a nylon pad actually took some of it off. After reading the description and the reviews this seemed a good choice, and the price was reasonable. As expected the nonstick works well. The materials and construction are excellent, the handle is robust and stays cool, and the pan itself feels well built. Heat is distributed uniformly across the base. I also like the higher sides compared with the pan it replaced, which make it more versatile. The coating being PFOA free is a plus.

Coming off a cheap set I'd hung onto far too long, this was a different world. Food tastes better, dinner is calmer, and the washing up doesn't loom over me.

First thing I tried was a batch of buttermilk pancakes and every one lifted away with no butter and no spray. The 10 inch has run weekend brunch ever since.

Family of four, and cooking happens here every night without exception. Eight months on, the coating is whole and no handle has loosened. Stir fries, braises, delicate fish, it all goes into these pans. Each piece takes about thirty seconds to wash and the weekly dishwasher run hasn't done any harm.

Browned a few pounds of beef for bolognese and let it bubble most of the afternoon, then took the pot clean with a soft sponge in under a minute. No soaking. I'm still a little suspicious of it.

great starter set, nothing I'd change

Ceramic cooktops scratch if you look at them wrong, so that was my main concern. Months of daily cooking later and there isn't a single mark. The base is smooth and slides rather than dragging.

Don't buy this for induction cooking alone. It works with induction, but it's far from optimal.
