@libraryofanormalgirl • B O O K • R E V I E W • #TheLastLetterFromYourLover is the book to read when you want to get that nostalgic feeling. That feeling of something lost that you’ll never get back. That feeling of love and sadness intertwined. 4.25/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 📖 If you’ve read any Jojo Moyes, you know she’s not about to give you a romance that’s gonna let you leave all warm and fuzzy. There MAY be some positives at the end; but you’re certainly going to be taken on a journey first. Out of the three Moyes books I’ve read (this, Me Before You, & Giver of Stars) I liked this one the best! I just got so swept up in the emotions, and while it was sad, it didn’t end on a totally terrible note (like another popular book of hers 😡 IYKYK). The reason it lost some stars for me? Predictability. I wanted a little more mystery… I wanted to work a little harder to figure out what was going to happen to our MCs (or who certain people turned out to be). If I hadn’t seen where this was going, it would have made the reveals so much sweeter. That being said, I still loved the story. I loved the parallels between past and present day and the themes of being dissatisfied with your life and the search for identity throughout. What I will not recommend? The movie. I mean, it was fine, but I think it will be a lot more enjoyable for people who have never read the book. Definitely not in my list of favorite page to screen adaptations. Oh well! It had high expectations to live up to. I’m currently rereading Station Eleven so I can start watching that TV adaptation. I’ve heard they change a lot, but that it’s still really good, so I’m looking forward to it. What’s a book to screen adaptation you actually love or are looking forward to? (Not HP, expand your minds people.) —— #jojomoyes #jojomoyesbooks #romance #romancebooks #historicalromance #historicalfiction #historicalromancenovel #pagetoscreen #adaptation #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #whattoread #whattoreadnext #whatshouldireadnext #bookstoread #penguinbooks #backlist #backlistbooks #botwxbs #booksparks #buzzfeedbooks #thestorygraph #goodreads #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #readmorebooks #targetstyle

About the Book

Moyes delivers a sophisticated, page-turning double love story spanning 40 years--an unforgettable "Brief Encounter" for modern times.

Book Synopsis

Soon to be a major motion picture streaming on Netflix, starring Felicity Jones, Shailene Woodley, and Callum Turner

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Giver of Stars, a sophisticated, page-turning double love story spanning forty years and an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times

It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply B, asking her to leave her husband.

Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives. She becomes obsessed by the story and hopeful that it can resurrect her faltering career. Perhaps if these lovers had a happy ending she will find one to her own complicated love life, too. Ellie's search will rewrite history and help her see the truth about her own modern romance.

A spellbinding, intoxicating love story with a knockout ending, The Last Letter from Your Lover will appeal to the readers who have made One Day and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society bestsellers.

"Elegiac . . . emotionally ablaze . . . Moyes's genuinely captivating tale resonates deeply in today's fast-paced, less gracious world."
