Beckett,
If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have.
I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride.
My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. It’s not fair.
And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart. She’s going to need help.
So if I’m gone, that means I can’t be there for Ella. I can’t help them through this. But you can. So I’m begging you, as my best friend, go take care of my sister, my family.
Please don’t make her go through it alone.
Ryan

I have mixed feelings about this one. I read the three empyrean books twice before I read this while there were some themes that I think were similar my main hang up is the end and the use of the trauma/grief/cancer trope. I cried at least three times reading this at various points and had moments I wanted to throw the book across the room because I was so emotional or frustrated. The ending left me disappointed especially since this is a standalone book. I also thought similar to iron flame the conflict in the middle went in circles and just felt almost pointless/unrealistic. I do wish the numbers were all in order it made it hard to follow otherwise and I almost wanted to go back and reread to make sure I was in the right part. On that same note the time jumps also caught me off guard and made me wonder if the other shoe would drop. Good writing though nothing terribly out of the ordinary as far as quirks, the working dog was one of my favorite parts of you count that.
Great read

A beautiful story and very well written. Rebecca makes it feel like you’re a part of the story. Feeling every high and every low. So, have the tissues ready because this book wrecked me.

Welp, a day after finishing this one & I’m still feeling utterly destroyed. This story was so beautifully heartbreaking. Rebecca has a way of telling a story that makes you feel like you’re living it right along side the characters, & boy did I feel it all!! What a wild roller coaster ride. Loved this one so much, but man did it absolutely shatter my heart.
Excellent.

I loved how the book didn’t focus on one thing, a love story. It was a combination of so many aspects of actual life and the journey. I can truly say it is my favorite book. It touched so many emotions, and left me with so many perspectives of life. It was perfect!
One of my favorite books!

This book was amazing but it was def a tear jerker, you will have water works multiple time with this book. I think the ending could have been a little better but honestly not was set up for a number two with how it ended so I'm hoping one comes out and carries it on. It's about friendships, love, and the difficult struggles we have to face with children. Seriously have Kleenex

I bought this, hoping to fill my void from the fourth wing by the same author. I will say it didn’t do that because what could fill the fourth wing whole except for the next book in the series . However, I did still enjoy this book. A cute easy to follow and read love story that had me bawling at the end. The fact that she used realistic situations really helped hit home with identifying with the characters. I would definitely recommend but keep a tissue box nearby.
Must buy!!!!
