Description
Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant, brightens the skin tone and reduces signs of aging. In its direct form, Vitamin C is unstable in water. Ascorbyl Glucoside is a water-soluble derivative of Vitamin C. It is much more stable in water, but less potent than direct L-Ascorbic Acid. Being more compatible with water allows for a very pleasant serum texture. It is considered a gold standard of Vitamin C derivatives due to its high stability and comfortable use, but it's impossible to achieve extremely high L-Ascorbic Acid potency with this solution. Aside from the general benefits of direct Vitamin C, Ascorbyl Glucoside has been shown to offer specific skin brightening benefits.

You know how you drink a LOT of water and it makes your skin look all luminescent? This had the exact same effect. My skin looked so healthy and bright! I swear my face looked like it was actually sparkling.

I wanted to like this so badly, but I should've listened to the reviews saying "you get what you pay for." The product does not go on smoothly, I personally didn't see any benefits after use, and it clumped upon application. I do LOVE The Ordinary, but this one just was not it. It didn't do any harm or aesthetic damage to my skin so I don't want to give it one star.

I did my research and read reviews before purchasing this serum. I started out only using a small amount once a day on double cleansed skin followed by a heavy moisturizing cream. Within a weeks use my skin dried out and became more red. I live in a dry climate and have sensitive skin and this product just wasn't right for me 😊

I've been trying different products from The Ordinary to brighten and even out my skin tone. I'm in my 50s with combination sensitive skin. This product caused a lot of redness and irritation on my upper cheeks. I didn't get to use more than two weeks. I tried to skip a day, and then use sparingly, but gave up as I was having to cover redness that I never had before, and it immediately went away when I stopped this. Disappointing and a waste of money. If you have sensitive skin be careful.

I needed a new Vit C serum and thought I'd give this a try. So far (1 week) it hasn't caused any breakouts, and my skin looks and feels good when I apply this. I def see a freshness in my skin tone and my pores appear smaller. (it's also a rare cold front in FL- so that is a side affect of cool non-humid weather) Overall, I'm happy and would re-purchase this if I ran out next week!

Tried this and the HA moisturizer. Wow, my skin did NOT like this combo. I used for 1.5 months and my skin looks dry and dull. I drink 2.5 L of water a day, double cleanse, exfoliate, wear sunscreen. I threw out the remaining today and going to go back to my Biossance facial oil and Cetaphil!

So far I really like this product. I layer it on top of the ordinary's niacinamide serum after it has dried down. My skin looks nice and glowy after. I love it. I have not used long enough to say it has helped with aging, but it feels good so far.

Not all Vitamin C products work for me--this product makes my skin feel soft and moisturized while safely delivering the benefits of Vitamin C. It probably depends on your skin type because if you have oily skin this may not work. But for the many of us that are easily irritated by Vitamin C with sensitive or dry skin, it's worth a try. This is one of my favorites and I hope they keep it in store

I've gone through an entire bottle of this and will not be repurchasing. I was looking for something to help brighten and even out my skin tone. I've had good results with the Mario Tricoci vitamin C but wanted a less expensive option. This product, unfortunately, caused a lot of redness and irritation on my cheeks. I also noticed increased or worsening texture. I'm in my 40s with combo sensitive skin. I was really disappointed that this didn't work fo rme.

I have tried everything to get this product to work but it pills no matter what. I don't wear makeup but I still notice it when I apply sunscreen or wear a mask. Don't waste your money.
