@whowhatbooks The Paper Palace left my heart in pieces — I can’t decide how I feel about the ending just yet. I may need 3-5 business days to process. • So, in the mean time, I picked “The Perfect Escape” from my TBR list (which has gotten slightly out of control). • Which seems like just the story to put aside the anguish I felt while reading The Paper Palace. • #bookish #bookstagram #theperfectescape #bookstores #currentlyreading

@beautynthebook The Perfect Escape ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ I can’t sit still when I can predict the next thing that’s going to happen & I was able to put together the pieces from the beginning! It’s one of those thrillers where you can kind of anticipate the next move and it didn’t have that shock factor for me. I mean, I like to be SHOOK if I’m going to pick up a thriller, because it’s not my typical genre. I’m also a big scaredy cat so if I’m taking a risk, it’s gotta be worth it, you know? Margaret, Sam, and Diana all set out for a girls weekend when suddenly, their car keys go missing at a gas station midway to their destination when they stop for gas. Because it was a rental car, they had to wait until morning to call and get a new set of keys. They had the car towed from the gas station and were forced to find an air BnB in the town where they were ended up stranded for the night. After arriving at this BnB and getting unpacked, they decide to go out for the evening to make the most of the unexpected setback. Suddenly, one of them goes missing, things don’t start adding up, a body is found, and all hell breaks loose! If this sounds like your cup of tea, give it a shot. There were moments of excitement and I absolutely adored Sam’s character! QOTD: When it comes to friendship…who are your favorite characters and from what book? Mine would be TullyandKate from Firefly Lane ✨ 🏷 #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookdecor #instabook #instareads #bookstagrammer #reads #bookrecs #bookrecommendations #bookish #bookishlife #bookreview #booklover #bookaddict #booksbooksbooks #readersofig #readersofinstagram #tbr #wednesday #bookblogger #bookblog

Book Synopsis

The perfect girls' weekend turns deadly in this twisty unforgettable thriller that is perfect for fans of Shari Lapena and Riley Sager.

A girls' weekend to die for.

New friends Sam, Margaret and Diana are thrilled to be getting out of the city for a girls' weekend--they've bonded over their messy divorces, and every mile on the odometer feels like another step towards putting their exes in the past. But when car trouble halfway into their trip strands them in the most unlikely of mountain towns, they come face-to-face with the hurts and betrayals they were so desperate to leave behind.

When Diana doesn't return home after a night out, Sam and Margaret's search for her reveals just how little they know about their friend. As eerie coincidences and secrets begin to pile up, and an ex-boyfriend arrives in the tiny town, the women realize that their detour may not have been a mistake...and that someone wants to guarantee that they never make it out.

Nobody writes twists like Leah Konen--this woman puts Hitchcock to shame. The Perfect Escape is somehow even more fantastic than her stunning debut, All the Broken People; her sophomore effort is a gripping, whip-smart, and unforgettable pulse-pounder that left my head spinning. With its intricate plotting and truly shocking reveals, this thriller is both an addictive page-turner and a brilliant examination of female friendship, shame, and betrayals. Thriller lovers: You need this book.--Andrea Bartz, author of We Were Never Here

When three women embark on a trip to forget their broken lives, they become embroiled in the center of a murder investigation. The Perfect Escape is a clever, locked room mystery that is compulsively readable and impossible to put down!--Wendy Walker, author of Don't Look for Me

The Perfect Escape is the type of captivating, masterfully-constructed thriller you'll consume in a breathless rush--and then flip right back to the beginning to figure out how the author pulled it all off. I gulped The Perfect Escape down in one juicy, frantic sitting -- Konen's tense, captivating plot never goes where you think it might, and she expertly peels back the layers on female friendship, toxic shame, and the way love can make dupes of us all. Fans of Ruth Ware should run, not walk, to grab this twisty, shocking thriller about a girls' weekend from hell!--Haley Sutton, author of The Lady Upstairs
