Can a book be boring and offensive at the same time?
Can a book be boring and offensive at the same time? I get that the author is intentionally depicting sexism and racism to skewer people who hold those views, but that doesn’t make it interesting or skillfully depicted. I was expecting an entertaining bit of horror-comedy (since that’s what the dust jacket promised!), but this was just a tedious mess.

Could have been better
I guess from the title I thought this was going to be a funny, pearl-clutching, book club of southern ladies whom set aside their Christian values to slay a vampire in a way only proper church going ladies could do. It’s not. There’s no humor, only boring stereotypes of housewives and their unappreciative husbands and disrespectful children. This story could’ve been so much better if the focus wasn’t about how well these women clean carpets and china but instead how their book club allowed them to be free from those expectations. It could have been fun to see them grow as they learn about what it takes to kill a vampire. Also, at one point the story jumps ahead three years and makes everything feel disconnected and there isn’t any closure with relationships. Oh and if you are sensitive about kids this book will upset you.
