Book Synopsis

Who do you trust, when everything falls apart?
Attacked as she travels home to Moniah for her coronation, Princess Adana struggles to hold onto her kingdom. Driven from her heavily guarded caravan by soldiers she previously thought loyal, Adana follows the lead of the royal giraffes and flees to a small farming village just inside the border of Moniah. Separated in the attack, her betrothed, Prince Kiffen of Elwar, is forced in the opposite direction, and he leads the survivors of the battle to the Border Keep between the two kingdoms.
Although isolated from each other, Adana and Kiffen can communicate through their telepathically-bonded royal giraffes, and together they seek to build an army to stop the traitor Maligon. Doing so may not be possible, though, as he has already overthrown the kingdoms of Belwyn and Teletia, and is using the couple's betrothal to turn the people of both Moniah and Elwar against them as his army races across the savanna to capture the Seat of Authority in Moniah.
Maligon excels at turning loyal subjects into traitors, and Adana and Kiffen must find a way to trust not only each other, but those around them, while protecting themselves from within. Turncoats abound, and if Adana and Kiffen fail to recognize the ones in their midst, all hope will be lost for the Four Kingdoms.
"Here is utterly unique world-building and imagination aplenty. Ms. Evers is a welcome addition to the highest ranks of fantasists." -John Adcox, author of Christmas Past and The Star in the East.
Review Quotes
"A tale of intrigue and romance, set in a unique and skillfully rendered world, THE WATCHERS OF MONIAH will keep readers riveted from first page to last. Highly recommended!" -David B. Coe/D.B. Jackson, author of the Thieftaker Chronicles
"What an excellent follow-up to The Watchers of Moniah--filled with plot twists, betrayal, political shenanigans, and dramatic battle scenes. It's fascinating to watch the two teens from the first book assume their roles as leaders in exile, while still not technically adults. And I loved learning more about Elayne, a character who was introduced late in the previous book. I can't wait for volume three!" --Barbara Claypole White, author of The Promise Between Us and The Perfect Son.
"Character-driven fantasy that feels fresh again! Here is big-world fantasy, where our beloved tropes are made utterly fresh again. Strong writing and believable characters won my heart, but the fact that this book takes us far from the familiar pseudo-Celtic medieval land is what makes it a remarkable achievement. Here is utterly unique world-building and imagination aplenty. Ms. Evers is a welcome addition to the highest ranks of fantasists." -John Adcox, author of Christmas Past and The Star in the East.
"An empowering heroine's journey of adventure, both physically through a lush fantasy world, and within, as the protagonist, Adana, comes of age. Telepathic connections to giraffes, diverse voices, and a matrilineal society are only a few of the intriguing and wonderful pieces that comprise this novel and the entire series."-Nicole Givens Kurtz, Author of the Kingdom of Aves fantasy mystery series
