Plastic, not sturdy.
Should be zero stars. As others stated this is pretty much all plastic except the scoop, which means any attempt to dig with it it will topple if the child is not providing counterweight. Doesn’t seem sturdy enough to last more than one summer. If my kiddo hadn’t already opened it and started playing with it we would have returned right away. Will not be purchasing other “steel classics” that are really just plastic. Super disappointed.

Not much steel
The only metal part here is the bucket. The entire arm assembly is plastic and quite wobbly. I will be surprised if this lasts one season of play. Extremely disappointed in this “steel classic”. So much worse than the classics bought years ago.

Disappointing
The steel components are nice, but the plastic parts are too weak to support the excavator. We have toys made with quality plastic and this is noticeably below that. The arm leans to the side from the weight, and the handle/lever buckles under the stress of trying to maneuver it. I don’t think it will hold up over time. I’ll be returning this.

Got this for my three year old and was really expecting to love it because I've seen other awesome metal excavator toys. But honestly it's a little disappointing - it feels a little flimsy. Only the bucket and the square body are metal, and the rest is plastic (most noticeably the handles used to control the digger arm, which actually bend when you pull on them if there's any resistance). Not a bad toy and my son still loves it, but it feels like this is only going to last a season or two before it breaks.
