A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Total Wireless Starter SIM Kit. That is an excellent question! The Total Wireless Starter SIM Kit is primarily marketed for new customers bringing their own unlocked phone (often called a "Bring Your Own Phone," or BYOP, kit), but yes, you can absolutely use it with your current Total Wireless account. You would use the new SIM kit in one of two common scenarios: 1. You Are Getting a New Phone (The Most Common Use) If you recently bought a new unlocked phone (from a source other than Total Wireless) and want to start using it on your existing account, you must activate a new SIM card for that new device. The Process: Insert the New SIM: Put the new SIM card from the Starter Kit into your new phone. Activate/Transfer Online: Go to the Total Wireless activation website or use their app. Choose "Keep Your Number": You will select the option to "Keep Your Number" and follow the prompts to transfer your existing phone number and remaining service balance from your old SIM card (or old phone) to the new SIM card. Confirm Information: You will need the ICC ID (the SIM card number) from the new kit and the IMEI of your new phone. 2. You Need a Different Sized SIM The Starter Kits usually contain a 3-in-1 SIM card (Nano, Micro, and Standard sizes). If your current phone uses an older, larger SIM card, and you switch to a modern phone that requires a smaller Nano-SIM, the kit has the correct size you need. Key Points to Remember You MUST Activate: Simply putting the new SIM card in your old phone will not work. You need to complete the online activation process to link that specific SIM card's ID (ICCID) to your existing Total Wireless phone number. The Old SIM Will Deactivate: Once you complete the transfer and the new SIM is activated, the old SIM card in your previous phone will automatically be deactivated.
