Q: I've had this play kitchen for over 6 months, and the wood still has a chemical smell. What is this wood treated with and is it toxic?

A: Hi Honestreview - The smell is likely coming from the paint, which can have a lingering odor if it is packaged soon after it is manufactured. The paint we use is water based, environmentally friendly and non-toxic. The smell will evaporate naturally but it is completely safe to use and is tested thoroughly for quality and safety. I think this toy kitchen is just about perfect! So many cute features including little pegs on the side to hang little play dish towels and utensils! Grab the hearth and hand pots and pan set to go with it! They are super cute as well. It went together super easy except my set was missing some hardware. The manufacturer did however send out new hardware pretty quickly but I had already returned the one missing hardware and purchased a replacement. So be sure to take inventory before you begin assembly to be sure everything is there. Other than that, I don’t think you will be disappointed. Especially if you are able to get it on sale!

This is awful to build. So many nonsensical components. You need a drill, not a screw driver as suggested. This was not worth the time it took to put together. Do not recommend.

The kitchen is pretty, and that’s all I can say about it that is positive. 2 of the doors do not stay closed. I actually had to reposition the door latching mechanism myself on one of them so that we could get it to somewhat latch. Frustrating for the kids and for us as parents. Quality is not what I’d expect from this company. Definitely would not recommend, and would not buy again.

My kids love this play kitchen!! One of the things I really like about it is that it is tall! My 5 year old and 2 year old can reach everything and it’s not too small for them! Most play kitchens are really short so they get grown out of easily! Even my 7 year old likes to play with it still! Love all the kitchen features and how it’s all made of wood. I love that it is such a cute design, it isn’t an eye sore at all, especially sitting in my dining room! Love all the storage this kitchen has! Was pretty simple to put together, did take a little time but absolutely love it!

This play kitchen is so adorable and fun! We ended up getting the refrigerator as well and I’m so glad we did! It doubles as storage for food related play! We have the cooking set, the stand mixer, and the picnic set so it’s perfect for that and can hold more! It fits very well aesthetically into our play area!

I absolutely LOVE this kitchen. We had a kids craft before that was given to our kids as a Christmas present and it did NOT hold up well. It was broken within the first week or so. We held onto it for as long as we could until I found something I liked and did my research on what would last and hold up to its standards for the price. I love that this is actual WOOD! Not some FAKE wood. It is so cute as well. It did not take too long to put together either, I would say maybe an hour and a half max for both the kitchen and the refrigerator with two people. Definitely worth getting if you are thinking about it.

Kitchen has brownish lower cabinets and the microwave is a gray green. It also does not match the refrigerator in the set. The refrigerator is the color I was expecting. Not sure if this was a manufacturing issue? Not sure what to do because I was expecting a matching set. The inconsistent coloring is somewhat annoying.

Supply cute, sturdy & functional! I’ve seen reviews of people saying there’s a chemical smell, I’m not experiencing this at all. I put both the kitchen and the fridge together by myself in about an hour and a half. Just make sure you read the directions and watch the placement of holes and pieces and you won’t have any issues.

It’s super cute but mine has a musty smell in the wood that will NOT go away. We’ve aired it out, we sprayed it with vinegar and it just reeks. It makes all the non plastic toys in it smell too. It’s almost been a year and it still smells so I’m returning it during the 1 year warranty window :( it makes me sad bc it took a long time to put together and now I have to find a new one

I love how simple this one is! Took my husband a couple hours to put together and my kiddos have been playing with it daily. We got it while on sale and it definitely worth it! They are newly 1 and 2 and then my 4 year old and they all love it! Colors are nice too. The little knobs turn and had the oven and doors open and then little knob hooks on side to hang utensils and what not. I looked at a bunch of kitchens and I’m glad we got this one.
