Q: Are these train tracks compatible with IKEA Lillabo train set?

A: We have this train and also an IKEA wooden train and the pieces don’t fit together very well. The IKEA connectors are slightly bigger and you have to pound on them to get the two brands to connect.

A: My Grandson received this set as a gift and has the same problem with his. He also received a Brio train set that came with a kid powered engine that he can push around the tracks himself. They combined both train sets and just don't use the battery powered engine.

A lot to be desired.
I wanted to like this set, but I don’t. My 3 year has a lot of issues with the on/off switch because for some reason there’s a reverse option. To be able to turn it off the switch needs to go in the middle which is hard for a young one to do. He often wants to stop it so he can use the crane and take off the cargo. When he try’s to turn it off he accidentally switches it to reverse and it causes a lot of frustration. I wish the pieces fit a little more snug so they don’t disconnect quite as easily. I’m not sure if that’s how all wooden train sets are since this is our first one. Also the train struggles to go up hill backwards so my child has to push it up the hill before it will continue moving. The church/ house is very skinny in width and easily knocked over. My child also wants to take the blue house out and I’m not sure if that’s an option.

I had to write a review for this train set because it impressed me so much. I bought it on a whim for my train-obsessed almost two-year old to keep at my parent’s vacation home. Incredible quality, value, versatility, and portability. I LOVE that the carrying case doubles as part of the track set up. It’s genius! And the motorized train works wayyyy better than the one that my son has at home. He’s obsessed and can play with it for long periods of time without getting bored of it. MUST BUY!

Decent set, needs variety, engine wears out quickly
I got this set to see if trains are something my 3 year old daughter would like and she loves it. The locomotive can run on carpet as well as the track so that has been entertaining. The cons are that the locomotive is hard to turn off for a 3 yr old so its not uncommon for us to walk in to find it still running. It also has lost the ability to climb the track hills, possibly because the rubber on the back wheels have worn down, maybe because the engine/gears have worn. Its only been 2-3 weeks since we got it. There also isnt a whole lot of variety in track layout that you can do so additional pieces will be necessary for us.

Ordered online and box was damaged in shipping with the train set box also open and spilled inside with pieces missing. I assumed they were lost in shipping since the shipping box had gaping holes. I returned the item and purchased a new one in the store and realized that I had originally been sent an open-box item (it was missing wrapping paper, cardboard, instructions, etc as well as ties on the outside that would have prevented it from spilling). Otherwise, I think we will be happy with this item. Love that it is compatible with the other Gigglescape car sets!

Santa knew just what to bring!
All my 3 year old daughter wanted last Christmas was a train. We considered more expensive sets/train table etc. This train is perfect. I love that it fits in its own container and the container becomes part of the track. My son loves this set. For the price, you get a ton of pieces to make new layouts with. My son loves getting creative and figuring out new ways to set up his track. I love that both pieces of the container can be used in the layout. The battery powered train is pretty powerful and goes up and down the ramps pretty easily.
